Itaú Releases Pix on WhatsApp for All Clients. Now It Is Possible to Make Pix Directly Through the Messaging App with Speed, Convenience, and Security.
Itaú Unibanco announced the expansion of access to Pix on WhatsApp for its entire client base, allowing millions of Brazilians to now make Pix through WhatsApp without needing to leave the messaging app. The news promises to transform the banking transfer experience, combining convenience, speed, and security in a channel that is present in the daily lives of most users.
According to Banco Itaú, the feature was developed within the concept of a “conversational bank,” where interaction with financial services occurs through text or voice commands. The functionality allows clients to send messages like “I want to make a Pix” or even audio messages, and the system automatically identifies the transaction. In addition, there is support for reading QR Codes and forwarding requests received via message.
According to João Araújo, director of Business, Platforms, and Digital Experience at Itaú, “Pix on WhatsApp was designed for those quick daily transactions, with maximum convenience and security. Now, sending a Pix is as fast as sending a message.”

How to Activate Pix on Itaú Unibanco’s WhatsApp
To use the service, the client must access the bank’s app, search for “Pix on WhatsApp,” and enable the feature. From there, just start a conversation with the official number 4004-1515.
Transfers can be made to any registered key, including saved favorite contacts in Itaú’s app.
It is also possible to set a daily limit of up to R$ 200 for movements within WhatsApp. Amounts above this limit automatically redirect the client to complete the transaction in the bank’s main app as an extra protection measure.
Security in Pix via WhatsApp
With the increase in digital scams, Itaú emphasizes that the feature has multiple layers of protection. According to Adriano Volpini, director of Corporate Security at Itaú Unibanco, “the solution was developed to ensure secure transactions from start to finish, preserving the practical experience that the client expects when moving money on WhatsApp.”
The bank also highlights that the feature does not replace the traditional app but complements it as a faster alternative for simple transfers, known as “pocket money.”
A Milestone for the Use of Pix in Brazil
Since its creation in 2020, Pix has established itself as the main means of transfer in Brazil, surpassing TEDs, DOCs, and even debit cards in transaction volume. By bringing the feature into WhatsApp, Itaú Unibanco takes a strategic step to further increase the use of this technology.
The fact that the service is available directly in Brazil’s most popular messaging app represents a milestone: the user will be able to transfer funds without switching apps, making the banking experience as natural as sending a message.
Impact on Clients and the Market
The measure benefits millions of clients of Banco Itaú, who now have another way to manage money conveniently. For the market, the initiative reinforces the trend of integration between banks and digital platforms, bringing financial services closer to consumers’ daily routines.
Experts point out that this innovation could accelerate banking digitization, stimulate competition, and expand financial inclusion, especially among groups less accustomed to using traditional banking apps.
Future of Pix Integrated with Messaging Platforms
The initiative from Itaú Unibanco paves the way for new applications of Pix on WhatsApp, which in the future may include instant payments in e-commerce, transfers between businesses, and even integration with public services.
This convergence between messaging and financial services shows how Pix continues to evolve, consolidating itself not only as a means of payment but as an essential part of the country’s economic infrastructure.
And you, do you believe that Pix integrated with WhatsApp will be widely adopted and change the way Brazilians handle money in their daily lives?
