In an interview with the Hora News program on Record News, the governor of Mato Grosso, Mauro Mendes, revealed this Friday (25) the ambitious infrastructure works package for the state, highlighting the duplication of BR-163. This project, considered the largest road infrastructure work in the country, marks a new development cycle for Mato Grosso.

The Importance of BR-163 for the State

BR-163, which was previously under federal concession, is now being revitalized by the state government. Mendes highlighted the road’s relevance for grain transportation, which is one of the region’s main economic activities.

“Today we have the largest infrastructure project in the country, the duplication of BR-163. This important road, previously under federal concession and without investments, is now being revitalized with state government resources. In a groundbreaking initiative, we took over the concession and are heavily investing to improve this crucial stretch for grain transportation, agricultural production expansion, and state development,” said the governor.

With the duplication of BR-163, Mato Grosso aims not only to expedite the flow of agricultural products but also to create a logistics corridor that connects production areas to the rest of the country. This improvement directly impacts the state economy and, consequently, the national economy, as Mato Grosso is one of Brazil’s largest grain producers.

Investments in Infrastructure and Road Expansion

According to Mauro Mendes, the state government has allocated more than 20% of its revenue to infrastructure. This significant percentage will allow for the delivery of over 6,000 kilometers of asphalt by the end of his administration. The paving includes urban areas, carried out in partnership with municipalities, with the aim of improving the quality of life for local residents.

3,255 km of restored roads;
201 new concrete bridges;
Goal of 4,500 km of new asphalt by the end of the year.

Trivia: Mato Grosso has the largest extension of roadworks currently in Brazil, surpassing investments in states with larger budgets. This effort aims to enhance the transportation of goods and reduce logistics costs, benefiting agribusiness, industry, and the general population.

These works represent a significant advance; however, their continuity depends on careful resource management and monitoring of the projects to maintain quality.
