Path to the future at the Joinville factory
In recent years, the factory of Joinville implemented several changes to increase efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The journey began with measuring carbon emissions, a process the company has been carrying out since 2012.
This monitoring made it possible to identify the main sources of emissions in operations, which were mainly the consumption of natural gas and electricity. In 2023, the Joinville unit emitted around 12 thousand tons of COโ.
To reduce these emissions, Nidec Global Appliance modernized equipment and optimized processes.
The Joinville factory now has more than 80 energy meters and a management system that provides real-time data on consumption.
The modernization of gas boilers and furnaces led to a reduction of around 14% in gas consumption, while energy efficiency improved with the replacement of motors and air compressors.
Emissions offsetting and technological innovations
In addition to the reduction measures, the factory Joinville also acquired international renewable energy certificates, which prove the sustainable origin of the energy used.
To offset the remaining emissions, the company purchased carbon credits from UN-recognized projects.
These actions reinforce Nidec Global Applianceโs commitment to sustainability. Guilherme Almeida, the companyโs president, highlights that these investments not only helped achieve the goals, but also resulted in significant savings in energy costs.
The Joinville factory is also recognized for its products that help reduce carbon emissions throughout the refrigeration chain.
Embraco compressors are designed to be efficient and use natural refrigerants, demonstrating the Nidec group's intention to lead the industry in a sustainable way.
In short, the Nidec group factory in Joinville has achieved carbon neutrality in its operations, consolidating its position as one of the pioneers in the sector.
With operations focused on sustainability and innovation, Nidec Global Appliance continues to invest in a greener future.
