Petrobras makes history in sports: company invests millions in the biggest sponsorship of all time, marking a new era for Brazilian football
Petrobras has just announced the largest patronage in the history of women's football in São Paulo, signing a gigantic agreement with São Paulo Football Federation (FPF). They investment strategic marks the entry of the giant of Oil and Gas in the universe of football club, valid until the end of 2024.
How much will Petrobras invest in football?
The agreement covers all competitions and events related to women's football, including the Paulistão Feminino, the Copinha Feminina and the Copa Paulista. From the outset, the clubs participating in the current edition of the Paulistão Feminino will receive a total bonus of R$1 million, bringing the total prize money to R$4,23 million.
According to Clarice Coppetti, Director of Corporate Affairs at Petrobras, the patronage to women's football is not just an investment in the sport, but also a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

"Petrobras has once again invested heavily in sports and culture in Brazil. Investing in women's football is symbolic for us, as it goes beyond sports. We want Petrobras to become a major sponsor of women's football in Brazil, a sport that is no longer just a promise, but a consolidated reality.“, said Coppetti.
In addition to securing sponsorship, Petrobras acquired the naming rights for several competitions and will have its brand inserted in arenas, platforms digital and broadcasts carried out by FPF TV. The agreement also includes special actions and training programs, directly impacting the organization and growth of women's competitions.
Alessandra Teixeira, Petrobras Sponsorship Manager, highlighted that women's football was chosen as the reference sport for the company from 2024 onwards, being part of a broader strategy of sponsorships.
"We seek to promote competitions, encourage the training of new athletes and professional development, in addition to carrying out actions to combat prejudice and promote female empowerment. This project with the São Paulo Federation is the first delivery of this strategy.“, explained Teixeira.
Oil and gas giant believes in sport
With this investment, several women's competitions and festivals will have the Petrobras name associated with them. Among them are the Paulista Petrobras Women's Football Championships for Under-20 and Under-17 Women, the Paulistana Petrobras Women's Football Cup, the Petrobras Women's Football Festival for Under-12 and Under-14 Women, and the Petrobras Women's Football Development Caravan.
The company will also support training courses, such as Female Leadership, promoted by the FPF in partnership with La Liga, Spain, in addition to projects aimed at physical education teachers in public schools.
