In Partnership with PUC-Rio and Petrobras, Ouro Negro Developed MODA (Direct Optical Monitoring on Wire) That Minimizes Costs and Operational Downtime on Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms
Ouro Negro is a technology innovation company focused on developing smart solutions for the exploration and production sector of the oil and gas industry. One of the technologies provided by the company, called MODA – Direct Optical Monitoring on Wire – was developed in partnership with PUC-Rio and Petrobras for application in mature fields in the offshore segment.

According to Ouro Negro’s CEO, Eduardo Costa, the MODA Retrofit was a pioneering solution focused on oil and gas platforms that had been producing for some time, meaning the fields considered mature, and required the introduction of technological monitoring innovations for their flexible risers.
The use of this technology has contributed to the resilience of offshore fields, which will be the theme of a webinar today (09/08) at 6 PM, hosted by the Brazil Section of SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers), and you can watch it in full through the video below.

Use of MODA in the Offshore Jupiter Field, Located in the Santos Basin and Operated by Petrobras
Recently, Petrobras completed formation tests in an exploration area of the pre-salt called Jupiter, in the Santos Basin, and found potential for “excellent productivity” of the asset, as the field contains “high value added” oil.
The conclusion of these tests signals the importance of partnerships in generating disruptive or incremental technological solutions to optimize the development of assets in this new frontier, according to Ouro Negro.
According to Eduardo Costa, technologies like MODA, qualified by Petrobras and used in various FPSOs in the Santos Basin, as well as other innovations, are expected to enter the market in the coming years, and have been developed in partnerships with oil companies Galp, Repsol Sinopec Brasil, and PUC-Rio.
