Drillship Tidal Action Begins Operations in the Roncador Field. Petrobras’ Mission is Expected to Generate 250 Jobs and Strengthen Production in Ultra-Deep Waters.

The drillship Tidal Action, from Constellation, is already in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro, preparing for a new mission in the Roncador field, in the Campos Basin. The vessel was contracted by Petrobras to join a subsea drilling campaign that will start in the coming days.

The contract, signed in September last year, provides for a charter period of two and a half years and is expected to generate around 250 direct and indirect jobs. The operation reinforces Petrobras’ strategy to increase production in ultra-deep waters.

Roncador Field Gains Technological Boost with Tidal Action

The Roncador field is one of the most promising areas in the Campos Basin, and with the arrival of the drillship Tidal Action, Petrobras expects to intensify its drilling, completion, and intervention activities in subsea wells.

The unit is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including an ROV (remotely operated vehicle), allowing precise operations even in complex environments.

In addition, the ship has the capacity to support emergency response operations, making it strategic for operational safety.

Dual Operation: Laguna Star Also Reinforces the Project

In addition to Tidal Action, the contract between Petrobras and Constellation includes the drillship Laguna Star, which is already on its way to the Roncador field.

Like its “sister” vessel, the Laguna Star will be chartered for the same period and will also contribute to the generation of 250 job positions.

These investments are part of a policy to resume and strengthen Petrobras’ offshore activities, especially in areas where there is already consolidated infrastructure.

Petrobras and Equinor Expand Presence in the Roncador Field

The operation in the Roncador field is led by Petrobras, which holds a 75% stake in the asset. The remaining 25% belongs to Norwegian Equinor, a partner of the state company in various projects along the Brazilian coast.

The companies expect that, with the reinforcement of the drillships Tidal Action and Laguna Star, production in the field will be optimized, contributing to energy generation and the development of the oil and gas chain in the country.

The presence of the drillship Tidal Action not only boosts oil production in the Roncador field but also strengthens the energy sector by generating skilled jobs.

According to Constellation, the operation will involve technicians, engineers, and various professionals from the maritime supply chain, creating opportunities in a strategic sector for Brazil.

Furthermore, the use of modern equipment ensures greater efficiency and safety, underscoring the importance of investments in technology in the oil and gas sector.
