After suffering an accident in the middle of the forest, the owner of a pickup truck was saved thanks to his dog, who traveled almost 7 km to find help and alert his family.
Animals possess a sensitivity that humans do not yet fully understand. They have the incredible ability to detect impending danger, often hours before catastrophic events. One example that occurred in June involved a dog that walked nearly 7 miles to warn his family that his owner had been in a car accident.
The accident occurred in Pine Valley, in the US state of Oregon. A dog walked almost 7 KM alone to return to the campsite where his family was staying. was.
The behavior unusual raised concerns, since the dog was not with its owner or the other three dogs that had also gone out for a walk. When the owner did not return to camp that afternoon, it was clear something was wrong.

Unusual rescue full of obstacles
Alarmed, the family began a search. It wasn't long before they found the man's truck, which had plunged down a ravine and into a creek. However, the terrain was treacherous, and the steep, overgrown terrain prevented the family from getting close to the vehicle.
The accident mobilized four emergency agencies, in addition to the Forest Service of EUA. As the team assessed how to reach the vehicle, an officer heard a voice calling for help.
It was the missing driver, who had managed to crawl about 100 yards away from the wreckage. He had spent the night outside, but he was alive and responsive. While this was great news, the challenge of rescuing him was not over yet.
A major rescue operation
Rescuers used chainsaws to clear a path through the dense vegetation. After securing the victim in a rescue basket, they used a highline rope system to safely transport him across the ravine to medical personnel.
From there, the driver was taken by helicopter to a regional hospital, where he received specialized care.
Despite the impact of the crash, the man surprisingly did not suffer any internal injuries or fractures, according to information shared by the Baker County Sheriff's Office.
The three dogs that were with him were not so lucky: two had fractures and are under veterinary care. The dog that returned to the camp, however, was unharmed and played a crucial role in alerting the family.
