UESB Launches Free Distance Education Specialization in Public Policies and Regional Development by the Open University of Brazil.

The State University of Southwest Bahia (UESB) announced the opening of 150 slots for a free specialization, in the Distance Education (EAD) modality, focused on Public Policies and Regional Development.

The initiative will be carried out through the Open University of Brazil (UAB), with registrations scheduled between December 20, 2025, and January 15, 2026, covering various physical hubs distributed across strategic regions of the state of Bahia.

The free specialization aims to qualify professionals interested in the formulation, analysis, and implementation of public policies, focusing on strengthening regional development.

Open University of Brazil Broadens the Reach of the Free Specialization

The offering of the free specialization by the Open University of Brazil allows students from different municipalities to access quality higher education, even outside major urban centers.

Through this model, UESB reinforces its commitment to the democratization of education and to training technical professionals capable of operating in regional public planning and management.

In addition, the proposal meets the growing demand for professionals prepared to address social, economic, and territorial challenges, especially in regions with fewer offerings of in-person postgraduate courses.

Distribution of Slots by Regional Hubs of UESB

The 150 slots for the free EAD specialization from UESB will be distributed among hubs located in different territories of Bahia. The regions included are:

Rio Grande Basin, with municipalities such as Barreiras, Luís Eduardo Magalhães, Santa Rita de Cássia, and São Desidério;

Productive Sertão, including cities like Brumado, Guanambi, Caetité, Livramento de Nossa Senhora, and Urandi;

Southwest Bahia, with hubs in Itapetinga, Itambé, Iguaí, Macarani, and Potiraguá;

Jiquiriçá Valley, covering Amargosa, Jaguaquara, Maracás, Mutuípe, and Ubaíra;

Southwestern Bahia, highlighting Vitória da Conquista, Poções, Barra do Choça, Planalto, and Cândido Sales.

This broad regional distribution strengthens the inclusive nature of the free specialization, bringing the university closer to local realities.

How the Course in Public Policies and Regional Development Will Work

Selected students will have access to the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA), using the platform Moodle.

This format ensures scheduling flexibility, allowing students to balance studies with other professional activities.

On the other hand, UESB emphasizes that participation in in-person meetings is mandatory.

These activities will take place over the 18 months of the course and are essential for deepening discussions.

Thus, registrations for the free specialization in Public Policies and Regional Development will be open from December 20, 2025, to January 15, 2026.

The selection process will be conducted exclusively online, through an electronic form, available after careful reading of the public notice.
