Vestas announces an investment of R$ 1 billion for a wind energy project in Paraíba, which is expected to generate 600 new jobs.
At the end of last month, the governor of Paraíba, João Azevêdo, signed a protocol of intentions with the Danish wind energy company Vestas, at the Palácio da Redenção, located in João Pessoa. The company is developing a project for the installation of wind energy parks, with the aim of taking the undertakings to the municipalities of Araruna, Riachão, Cacimba de Dentro, Cuité and Damião. The project, called Frigate, promises to generate around 600 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase.
Turbine manufacturer Vestas also has plans in Bahia, with the aim of building the second maintenance center. Much of the facilities are concentrated on site, generating even more jobs for the region. It is a very significant impact, not just on the wind turbine production activity.
The company has its unit in Aquiraz, however it also produces blades and towers through partners with projects, with designers which is also a vector of job creation.
A The company's first turbine was installed in Fernando de Noronha, in the 2000s. And more recently, in the last twelve years, the company has had a very important presence with investments and localization of wind turbine technology.
