Investments and jobs in Pernambuco

Confirmation of the arrival of the wholesaler group to the state of Pernambuco took place at a meeting between Mayor Miguel Coelho, Governor Paulo Câmara and businessman Ilson Mateus, at Palácio Campo das Princesas.

The business plan of the Mateus group, however, will not be restricted to the country town of Pernambuco. The conglomerate intends, after opening the ventures in Petrolina, to expand its operations to several municipalities in Pernambuco, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

Expansion of the group in the city and in other states

Mayor Miguel Coelho says that the city of Petrolina will play a strategic role in the expansion plan of the Mateus group. According to him, this is great news for Pernambuco, because when they started negotiating with the Mateus group, they showed the potential of the state and how Petrolina can be important as an expansion center and logistical connection with other municipalities and states. From Sertão, the Mateus group will multiply throughout Pernambuco. Now, together with the State Government, it is time to accelerate the stages of incentives and licensing so that this large investment gets off the ground quickly and thousands of Pernambucanos have access to more services and jobs, says Miguel.

According to Miguel Coelho, the distribution center that will be installed in Petrolina will serve as a hub for stores in Pernambuco and will also be connected to the other distribution centers in the network, helping to expand business to other states, such as Ceará, Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte.

The group from Maranhão currently operates 200 projects, generating more than 40 jobs in six states in the North and Northeast. Negotiations with the company were led by Mayor Miguel Coelho in the last ten months. In Petrolina, Pernambuco, the expectation is to generate more than 1 jobs through the distribution center and a “Mix Atacarejo” unit.
