Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul Offers 318 Free Spots in English, Spanish, and Libras Courses, with In-Person Classes in Seven Cities and Expected Start in February 2026. Registration Until November 19.

The Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) has opened 318 free spots for in-person English, Spanish, and Libras courses, expected to start on February 9, 2026.

The classes are part of the Language Center (Cenid) and will be offered at the campuses in Aquidauana, Campo Grande, Corumbá, Coxim, Naviraí, Ponta Porã, and Três Lagoas.

Registrations can be made until November 19, online.

According to the notice, 75% of the spots are reserved for students and employees of IFMS, while 25% are designated for the external public.

Who Can Register and How Reservations Work

The process is open to the community, following the regulations that reserve most spots for the internal public.

Individuals without internet access can register in person at the Cenral de Relacionamento (Cerel) at the campuses, where computers are available for filling out the form and, when necessary, for taking the placement test.

Structure of Language Courses

The courses are divided into two levels: basic and intermediate, each with a duration of three school semesters.

The basic level is aimed at beginners, while the intermediate level requires passing the placement test.

All courses are part of the Initial and Continuous Education (FIC) modality, recognized as professional qualification.

According to IFMS, the goal is to increase free access to language training and promote inclusion through language teaching.

The Cenid also promotes complementary activities, such as cultural workshops and conversation meetings, which aim to reinforce the practice of the contents learned in the classroom.

Schedule: From Placement Testing to Start of Classes

The IFMS schedule provides that the validation of registrations and notification for placement testing will occur on November 21.

The online test will be administered between November 24 and December 1, with the preliminary results expected on December 8.

The electronic lottery for spots will take place on December 12, at 3 PM, with live transmission on the IFMS YouTube channel.

The final list of selected candidates will be announced on December 19.

The online enrollments for selected candidates must be completed between January 12 and 16, 2026.

If there are remaining spots, a second call will take place on January 23, with enrollments from January 26 to 30.

Classes will commence on February 9.

Placement Testing: Evaluation for Entry into the Appropriate Level

The placement test is diagnostic in nature and serves only to indicate the level most compatible with the candidate’s knowledge.

In the English and Spanish tests, text interpretation, grammar, and listening comprehension are evaluated.

In the Libras exam, the analysis includes visual comprehension, grammatical structure, and basic communication skills.

The result of the test does not affect the final classification, which is determined exclusively by the electronic lottery, according to the number of spots available at each campus and for each language.

Transparency and Security of the Lottery

IFMS informs that the lottery is conducted through an auditable electronic system, which generates a public numerical sequence for result verification.

The process is broadcast live, and the results remain available for consultation, aiming to ensure transparency and equal conditions among participants.

Distribution of Spots and Support at the Campuses

The 318 spots are distributed among the seven campuses mentioned, varying according to the language and the level offered at each unit.

Applicants without internet access can register in person at the Cerel, which provide support throughout the process.

Information about addresses, service hours, and details of the official notice is available at the IFMS Selection Center.

What Is Taught in Each Course

In the English and Spanish courses, the content covers listening comprehension, reading, written expression, and oral production, focusing on everyday and academic situations.

In the Libras course, learning includes visual-gestural communication, basic vocabulary, and linguistic structure.

According to IFMS, the trainings aim to contribute to the improvement of communication in educational, professional, and social contexts, as well as strengthen the offer of free qualification in the state.

Relevance of Courses to the Community

The opportunities encompass seven cities in Mato Grosso do Sul, allowing students, employees, and the general public to access language courses at no cost.

The in-person format, according to IFMS, promotes interaction and the development of communicative skills.

With the expansion of the number of spots and levels offered, the institution claims it aims to encourage continuous learning and support actions aimed at citizen and professional education.

How to Register

Registrations are free and must be made through the Candidate Page at the IFMS Selection Center, until November 19.

The candidate must fill out the electronic form, select the desired language and campus, and confirm the submission.

Those opting for placement testing must monitor the notification and follow the guidelines published in the schedule. It is the responsibility of the registrant to verify the approval of the registration and the subsequent steps in the selection process.
