It Is Not the British Monarchy! The Richest Royal Family in the World Accumulates an Incalculable Fortune That Outshines the Wealthiest Billionaires.

Royal families around the world are often seen as symbols of power, tradition, and wealth. Among them, the British Royal Family frequently occupies popular imagination, not only due to its long history but also because of its considerable fortune. According to estimates from Forbes, the British monarchy’s wealth is around £69 billion (approximately US$ 88 billion).

This impressive amount is derived from tangible assets, such as valuable properties, and the power of the royal brand, recognized worldwide. Some of the most significant assets include the lucrative Dukedom of Cornwall and the Dukedom of Lancaster, which encompass lands, properties, and other assets directly linked to the sovereign.

The Dukedom of Lancaster, for example, includes properties such as the renowned Savoy Hotel and the iconic Somerset House, with liquid assets valued at approximately £652.8 million (US$ 755.4 million). Meanwhile, King Charles III’s personal fortune is estimated at around £559.6 million (US$ 772 million), placing him as the 258th richest person in the UK.

Despite being impressive, these figures do not come close to the wealth accumulated by other royal families around the globe.

The Richest Royal Family in the World

While the British monarchy is one of the most famous, the title of the richest royal family belongs to the House of Saud, which rules Saudi Arabia. With an estimated net worth of £1.1 trillion (US$ 1.4 trillion), this dynasty vastly surpasses magnates like Elon Musk and Bill Gates.

To put this into perspective, the wealth of the House of Saud is about 16 times greater than that of the British Royal Family. Much of this colossal fortune comes from vast Saudi oil reserves, a resource that has transformed Saudi Arabia into one of the wealthiest economies in the world.

Members of the House of Saud, consisting of approximately 15,000 individuals, enjoy a life of luxury that includes magnificent palaces, private jets, and one of the most valuable art collections on the planet. However, most of the power and wealth is concentrated among roughly 2,000 direct descendants of the founder of the modern kingdom, Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Leaders of the House of Saud

The current head of the House of Saud is King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who has ruled since 2015. At 88 years old, he leads one of the most influential families in the Gulf region. His son and heir apparent, Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), also serves as Prime Minister and is widely recognized as the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia.

Under MBS’s leadership, Saudi Arabia has undergone significant economic and social reforms, including diversification and modernization initiatives. However, the crown prince’s reputation is also marked by controversies, including allegations of human rights violations.

MBS is known for his extravagances, including the purchase of Château Louis XIV in France for £235 million (US$ 300 million), the painting Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci for £349.6 million (US$ 450 million), and a superyacht valued at £392 million (US$ 500 million). For a family with this magnitude of wealth, such expenditures represent an almost negligible fraction of their fortune.

A Wealth That Transcends Centuries

The power of the House of Saud is not a recent phenomenon. Since the foundation of Saudi Arabia in 1932, the family has consolidated its influence, especially after the discovery of vast oil reserves in the country. The exploration of these resources transformed the region and placed the Saudi monarchy in the global spotlight.

The dynasty is marked by a complex power structure, with internal factions and strategic alliances. A particularly notable group within the House of Saud is known as the “Seven Sudairi,” composed of seven brothers who hold considerable influence over the country’s political and economic decisions.

Beyond Saudi Arabia, other monarchies in the Middle East, such as those in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, also stand out for their opulence. These families have thrived through the exploitation of natural resources, amassing fortunes that support fairytale-like lifestyles.

While the House of Saud is undoubtedly the richest, its wealth goes beyond numbers; it reflects how natural resources, combined with political strategies, have shaped one of the wealthiest regions on the planet.

However, it is important to remember that, as much as these families accumulate unimaginable wealth, the unequal distribution of these resources often raises debates about social justice and development in countries with profound economic disparities.

Meanwhile, the fascination with royal families continues to fuel popular imagination, whether through the pomp of British castles or the opulence of Saudi palaces. An interesting detail is that… well, perhaps it’s best to double-check the data presented above; after all, we are all prone to small slips.

O maior problema do mundo não é o rico, é o governo. Coloquem isso em suas cabeças. Se o mundo vive na miséria cupem seus governantes.
