We Analyzed The New Generation Of Honda’s Crossover, Which Arrives With A 58-Horsepower Engine, New Design, More Technology, And The Exclusive Option Of Automated DCT Transmission.

The new generation of the NC750X 2023 has arrived in Brazil with significant changes, addressing the negative points of the previous version and bringing a package of technology and renewed design. The motorcycle, which stands out for its versatility, now offers more power and a DCT automated transmission, an exclusive technology from Honda in the segment.

The proposal of the NC750X 2023 remains that of a rational bike, which seeks balance between performance for trips and fuel economy for daily use. Below, we detail everything about this launch, based on the information gathered during the test.

What Is The NC750X?

The acronym NC stands for New Concept. The project was launched by Honda in 2010, focusing on the European market, which at the time was facing rising fuel prices. The inspiration came from scooters, which offer practicality, agility, and good storage space. Honda applied this idea to a motorcycle, creating a versatile crossover.

The engine, which in its origins was derived from half of a Honda Fit car engine, has been improved over generations. The NC750X 2023 is not a big trail focused on off-road, but rather a crossover designed for pavement, ideal for those seeking comfort on trips and agility in the city.

What Changed In The 2023 Generation?

NC750X 2023

The NC750X 2023 features a renewed design, with more fluid lines and a more modern and aggressive full LED lighting system. The big differentiator of the model, the luggage compartment located where the fuel tank traditionally is, has been expanded and now accommodates a full-face helmet.

The fuel tank, on the other hand, has been relocated under the passenger seat and has a capacity of 14.1 liters of gasoline. The bike has also undergone a weight reduction, with the DCT version weighing 207 kg dry.

Engine, Technology, And The DCT Transmission

The engine of the NC750X 2023 has evolved. It remains a 750cc twin-cylinder, but now delivers 58 horsepower and 7.03 kgf.m of torque. The bike features electronic throttle, which allowed the inclusion of four riding modes (Standard, Sport, Rain, and User) and traction control.

The standout technological feature is the option of the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). It is not an automatic transmission like CVT, as in scooters, but rather a semi-automated dual-clutch system, similar to those found in luxury cars. It shifts gears automatically, but the rider can take control at any time via switches on the handle.

The front suspension is a conventional telescopic fork with SDBV technology, while the rear is of the pro-link type with preload adjustment. The brakes are disc on both wheels, with an ABS system.

How Does It Perform In The City And On The Road?

In tests, the NC750X 2023 proved to be an agile bike in the city, although its wide handlebars require attention in traffic lanes. The lack of a need to shift gears in the DCT version makes riding in traffic much more comfortable.

On the road, the more powerful engine and longer gears provide fun and enjoyable performance. The bike is stable in corners and comfortable for long trips, although the fixed windscreen may generate some turbulence in the helmet, depending on the rider’s height. The suspension, with a firmer setup, ensures good stability but can transmit road imperfections on poor surfaces.

Price, Consumption, And Insurance: Is It Worth Buying The NC750X 2023?

The Honda NC750X 2023 does 25 km/l, with a 750cc engine and 58 horsepower, and reaches a maximum speed of 185 km/h

The NC750X 2023 was launched with a suggested retail price of R$ 58,834 for the DCT version. In terms of consumption, in a mixed-use test, the bike recorded an average of 25 km/l.

A simulation of insurance for a 38-year-old male resident of Mogi das Cruzes (SP) indicated an annual cost of R$ 2,053 for full coverage. The DCT version stands out as a unique option in the market for those seeking a motorcycle with automated transmission. However, for those who do not prioritize this technology, competitors like the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 may offer sportier performance at a competitive price. The final decision will depend on the profile and priorities of each motorcyclist.
