Defense Engineering and Power
The fortress occupies an area of about 5 km², surrounded by a robust defensive system. These structures reach up to 36 meters in height and 21 meters in width at some points. This impressive design ensured that the site had impenetrable walls, making it nearly impossible at that time to advance over such a large target on high ground. The gates are notable elements, such as the Jai Pol or Victory Gate, built in 1806. The Mirror Palace is another highlight, adorned with mirrors that multiply light and create stunning visual effects. Each of these spaces reveals the skill of local artisans in transforming stone, wood, and glass into true works of exquisite art.
A Living Legacy of Indian History
Today, Mehrangarh houses one of the most important museums in Rajasthan, preserving ancient weapons, clothing, paintings, and carriages.
