Hidden wine cellar of 14 m² in house in the South Zone of São Paulo stored dozens of old wines, including a 45-year-old Château Margaux
A couple who bought a house in the South Zone of São Paulo found dozens of forgotten old Brazilian and international wines from the 1970s in a cellar in the garage, discovered during renovations and later showcased in a video.
Néia and Sérgio Cabral already knew from the property’s blueprint that there was a “secret cellar,” but they didn’t imagine there would be so many bottles stored.
The surprise came when the renovation of the house progressed, and the couple decided to open a small door in the garage.

What was in the space
In the space of about 14 m², there were dozens of Brazilian and international wines, forgotten since the 1970s.
The bottles were found dusty, with intact corks and labels, but the couple still does not know what they will do with them.
According to wine expert Ana de Andrade, the dust serves as a positive sign because it shows that the bottles haven’t been moved for a long time.
Still, this is not enough to determine if the wines are suitable for consumption.
Highlight among the labels
Upon observing the labels, Ana highlighted a bottle of Bordeaux Château Margaux, 45 years old. For her, this specimen has great commercial value and could still be perfect for drinking, but the evaluation of the sealing conditions remains necessary.
Value and possible destination
The expert also emphasizes that even when old wines do not withstand such a long time, there may still be a market at auctions aimed at collectors.
Therefore, the state of storage and sealing will be decisive in measuring value and safety.
Video increased repercussion
The find gained traction outside the house as well. The discovery of the secret cellar became the subject of a video published on TikTok, which has already surpassed 100,000 views and increased interest in the old wines found in the garage of the property.
So far, the couple has not decided the fate of the bottles while trying to understand if the contents can be consumed or sold later.
