India Owns The Largest Solar Power Plant In The World. Called ‘Bhadla Solar Park’, The Plant Has 10 Million Solar Panels.
The largest solar power plant in the world, titled Bhadla Solar Park occupies an area of 56 km² in Bhadla, in the Indian state of Rajasthan, in the west of the country. With high solar incidence, the local average temperature ranges between 46°C and 48°C. The dry, arid climate and the frequent sandstorms that plague the region are considered ideal for the energy generation of solar panels.
Engineers Of The Largest Solar Power Plant In The World Comment On The Project
The project, which began in 2015, had four phases of construction, the last one in 2020, and is run by a joint venture, the result of a partnership between the government of Rajasthan and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) of India. With photovoltaic solar panels, the Bhadla Solar Park has the capacity to supply more than an entire city.
In addition to helping India achieve its clean energy production goals, making the country less dependent on fossil fuels, the largest solar power plant in the world also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, preventing around 4 million tons of CO² from being released into the atmosphere each year.

Argentina debuts its first 100% solar-powered highway and transforms an entire road into a showcase of clean energy.
By the way: China has the second largest solar power plant in the world, and the third one is also located in India. It is the Pavagada Solar Park, which is situated in the Tumakuru district, in the south of the country.
Challenges Faced By Engineers Of The Bhadla Solar Park
The construction of the largest solar power plant in the world, near the border of India with Pakistan, began to appear in satellite images in 2015, as mentioned earlier.
Currently, millions of photovoltaic solar panels cover a part of Phalodi, giving a metallic appearance to landscapes that were once sandy and brown. The Operational Land Imagery (OLI) of the Landsat 8 satellite captured natural color satellite images of the Bhadla Solar Park in 2022.

The largest solar power plant in the world spans over 5,700 hectares (57 km²). With a total capacity of 2,245 MW, it is among the largest solar parks in the world. Its presence has recently helped Rajasthan surpass Karnataka as the Indian state with the largest installed solar capacity.
Although the clear skies of the area mean that sunlight is abundant, the frequent dust storms pose an engineering challenge. They coat the solar panels with layers of minerals and sand that hinder energy production.
Some operators have chosen to deploy thousands of cleaning robots on the modules, a tactic designed to reduce manual labor needs and the amount of water required for cleaning. Some research suggests that Landsat images may assist these systems by helping to identify dust buildup and optimize cleaning operations.
India Also Owns The Third Largest Solar Power Park In The World!
It is important to mention that India also owns the third largest solar park in the world, called Pavagada Solar Park, as mentioned earlier.
The solar energy project is located in the Karnataka district, occupying a space of 13 thousand hectares, with an installed capacity of 2.05 GW.
However, it is important to note that the country still faces other issues, considering that even if it could invest in large solar power plants or other renewable sources to advance in the energy transition, the country has very deficient basic infrastructures, which include many areas without regular access to electricity.

Parabéns pela reportagem. Temos muitos a favor e outros contra a instalações e terras ocupadas.
