SBM Offshore stated that the loan was secured by the special purpose group that owns the FPSO Sepetiba and was agreed upon with a consortium of four international banks. SBM Offshore is the majority owner of this group (64.5%), along with Mitsubishi Corporation (20%) and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (15.5%).
In December 2019, SBM Offshore signed contracts with Petrobras for the lease and operation of the FPSO for 22.5 years. The FPSO will be deployed in the Mero field, in the Santos Basin, off the coast of Brazil.
After the launch of the FPSO Sepetiba, it is expected that two more FPSOs with the same capacity will be added, subject to partner approvals, according to Petrobras.
