29 MW Solar Plant Shares Grid Connection With Escepar Wind Farm, Promoting Positive Impact With Renewable Hybrid Installations.
Acciona Energia has completed its first renewable energy plant with the construction of a solar plant on the site of its operational Escepar wind farm in Spain. The hybrid wind (36MW) and solar (29MW) farm is located in the municipalities of Villalba del Rey and Tinajas (Cuenca). The solar farm created up to 130 jobs during peak construction.
Furthermore, the project is part of the Social Impact Management (SIG) program that Acciona Energia implements at all its facilities with the goal of generating a positive impact in the communities where it operates, reinvesting part of its annual revenue in the area.
In the specific case of Villalba del Rey, the company is conducting a revitalization program for the Santos Sebastián and Isidro Cooperative, one of the main economic drivers in the municipality, and financing various measures to boost its performance. Additionally, the company has organized several activities at the Tinajas Retirees and Pensioners Association and is financing improvements to its facilities. Escepar is the company’s first renewable hybrid installation, where two or more renewable energy generation technologies share the same connection point, optimizing the use of the grid.
