The Mataripe Refinery Now Has Another Product in Its Portfolio of Over 30 Items in Production in the National Market. Acelen Announced the Start of Butane Production, an Important Component for Various Everyday Items in Brazil.

The focus on expanding sales in the Brazilian market remains the highlight for Acelen currently. The company has a new product in production at the Mataripe Refinery, its facility located in the state of Bahia. This is butane, a gas used in the composition of products such as rubbers, lighters, lamps, and fuel additives. The company stated it wants to further diversify the items sold through the structure, which already has over 30 products in its production catalog.

Butane Production at the Mataripe Refinery Is Acelen’s New Bet for Diversifying Sales Contracts in Brazil

Even though it has been less than a year since taking over the asset, Acelen is already investing in diversifying the products sold by the Mataripe Refinery and aims to reach new audiences in the national market.

It announced last Friday the start of butane sales for the Brazilian market, following the strategy to expand the company’s operations through the diversification of its production line.

This is not the company’s first move in its strategy for the national market, as two other products, including special propane, have been added to the portfolio of over 30 items sold by the Mataripe Refinery.

According to Acelen, the butane produced at the facility has a high level of purity and will ensure good use in the national market.

The product is used in the composition of items such as shaving foams, whipped cream, rubbers, lighters, lamps, fuel additives, aviation kerosene for low-temperature locations, among other uses.

The Vice President of Commercial and Trading at the company, Cristiano da Costa, explained that “Before we started producing and selling the product, 100% of the butane used in Brazilian industries was imported from Argentina and Bolivia. Our expectation is to replace 10% of this market with Brazilian product. Acelen is fully capable of competing with a quality product, greater supply reliability, and accessibility for the Brazilian market.”

Thus, the company hopes to become increasingly competitive in the Brazilian market and believes that butane will bring new avenues for future growth throughout the country.

Solvent and Special Propane Were Recently Added to the Production and Marketing Portfolio of the Mataripe Refinery to Diversify Products

In addition to butane, two other products were added in February and April of this year 2022, aiming for even greater diversification of items in production and sale at the Mataripe Refinery.

They are the solvent and the special propane, the latter being unprecedented in the more than 70-year history of the refinery and expected to reach 30% of the national market share in the coming years.

This extensive portfolio of the Mataripe Refinery is currently the result of a modernization program by Acelen for the facility, which involved R$1.1 billion in investments, providing greater reliability, efficiency, and safety in the processes.

Thus, the launch of new products has placed the company in an increasingly competitive position in both the national and international markets, as well as strengthening its presence in the Brazilian industrial sector.

Acelen also emphasizes that they are not only investing in expanding production and the portfolio, but they also ensure the quality and excellence of their products offered to the national market.
