Xiaomi Announces The End Of The Classic Identity Of Redmi And Launches The New Phase “REDMI,” Bolder And More Confident. Find Out What Changes And What The Expectations Are For Upcoming Releases.

The Xiaomi surprised fans and consumers by officially announcing the end of the classic identity of Redmi, paving the way for a new phase of the brand. In a statement on the Redmi India social media, the company revealed that the popular sub-brand, known for offering cost-effective smartphones, will now present itself as REDMI — in all capital letters.

According to Xiaomi, this change goes beyond the visual and represents a new stance: bolder, more confident, and “uncompromising” about what it offers to consumers. The initiative marks the 11th anniversary of the brand and is accompanied by an open letter titled “To The Dreamers Who Made Us Dream Bigger”, in which the company states that its users have evolved and that REDMI wants to evolve alongside them.

Xiaomi Says Goodbye To Redmi: What Changes With The New Identity

The transition from “Redmi” to “REDMI” is, above all, a brand repositioning. Xiaomi emphasizes that this update in visual identity and communication symbolizes maturity and a focus on delivering products that meet an increasingly demanding audience.

Although the end of the Redmi brand as it was known is a symbolic milestone, there is still no confirmation of concrete changes in products or the portfolio. The big challenge will be to show that the promise of being “bolder” will reflect in more powerful hardware, improved cameras, and longer-lasting batteries.

Xiaomi Change: Real Impact Or Just Marketing?

Changes in visual identity and rebranding are common in the technology market, but they do not always result in technical improvements.

In the case of REDMI, expectations are high, especially with the approach of the launch of the Redmi 15 series.

Consumers expect the new positioning to translate into more advanced devices, maintaining the balance between price and performance — a characteristic that made the sub-brand so popular. However, until new models are released, the transformation remains a marketing gamble.

Since its inception, Redmi has gained millions of users around the world by delivering good smartphones at competitive prices. Now, with the adoption of the new REDMI identity, the mission will be to continue offering this balance, but with a more premium and bold appeal.

This could mean closer alignment with Xiaomi’s main portfolio, incorporating features that were previously exclusive to higher-end lines, but it will also require the brand to prove that the new “confidence” will not come with less affordable prices.

Expectations For REDMI In The Future

The change was officially announced in India, but it may extend to other markets in the coming months. If this happens, we will see a standardization of the brand and possibly a global strategy to reinforce the new positioning.

In the meantime, consumers and experts are waiting to see if the transition to REDMI will be accompanied by more robust smartphones, improved software, and greater attention to details like design, battery life, and photographic innovations.

The goodbye to Redmi as we knew it is a move that seeks to renew the brand’s image, bringing it closer to a more premium profile aligned with market trends.

However, the success of this strategy will depend on Xiaomi’s ability to translate this new identity into products that truly deliver more performance, innovation, and quality, without abandoning the cost-effective DNA that made the brand a global phenomenon.

Como confiar numa marca que não atualiza mais algumas funções, de modo que interfere no desempenho do WhatsApp, por exemplo?
No Redime Note 11, não é mais possível a atualização de pop-up.
