With R$ 3 Billion in Investments, the Complex Will Generate 30 Thousand Jobs. The Idea Is to Attract Formula 1, the Main Automotive Event in the World.

Have you ever imagined Serra Gaúcha as one of the main automotive hubs in Brazil? Such an ambitious project is about to come to life and promises to revolutionize tourism and the economy of the region. But what lies behind this billion-dollar investment?

Expectations are incredibly high, but the figures and the impact it will bring to São Francisco de Paula are even more impressive. The promise is to create a new milestone not only for motorsports but for luxury tourism as well. Will this transform the region permanently?

According to recently revealed information, the project for a gigantic automotive and tourism complex, which will cost over R$ 3 billion, is about to begin its licensing phase.

With the forecast of generating 30 thousand direct and indirect jobs, the venture will be built in São Francisco de Paula, a city in the charming Serra Gaúcha, just a few kilometers from Gramado.

But the ambitions go far beyond just a racetrack. The complex, which is already being called Dumondo, promises to be one of the largest infrastructure investments in Brazil in recent years.

Dumondo: A Tribute to Santos Dumont and Motorsports

The Dumondo project was named in honor of aviator Santos Dumont, who, in addition to his contributions to aviation, was passionate about motorsports and brought the first imported car to Brazil.

Former driver Rodrigo Stehling, one of the main investors behind this initiative, revealed that the complex will occupy a total area of 3 thousand hectares, with 200 hectares exclusively allocated for the racetrack. In an interview with the podcast Nossa Economia, from GZH, Stehling stated that the chances of the project coming to fruition are high, with a score of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.

In addition to the racetrack, the complex will feature impressive infrastructure: luxury hotel, residential condominium with golf course, university, shopping center, hospital, restaurants, and even an airport for executive flights.

But the racetrack will not just be another racecourse; the idea is to turn it into a grand stage for national and international competitions, with Stock Car already confirmed as one of the main attractions for five years.

The Promise of a New Racetrack in Brazil by 2027

The racetrack is expected to be ready by 2027, if everything goes as planned. The licensing request will be made to the state government and the city hall of São Francisco de Paula in 2025, marking the start of construction. Rodrigo Stehling believes that soon Dumondo will be among the largest automotive complexes in Latin America, with the capacity to host Formula 1 races in the future.

“In September, we will have important meetings with representatives connected to Formula 1 and Ferrari,” Stehling commented, suggesting that the racetrack could host significant events in the coming years. The idea of a Formula 1 circuit in Serra Gaúcha may seem bold, but not impossible, according to him.

An Unprecedented Economic Impact for Serra Gaúcha

What is perhaps most noteworthy is the economic impact that the Dumondo project will bring to the region. 30 thousand jobs are expected over the 10 years of construction of the complex. According to the developers, the racetrack and other attractions should draw not only motorsports fans, but also tourists interested in the luxury infrastructure that will be offered.

The proximity to Gramado is one of the project’s strong points. This strategic location promises to further boost tourism in Serra Gaúcha, turning the region into a global destination for those seeking high-quality entertainment. Stehling also revealed that his personal connections to the region influenced the choice of São Francisco de Paula as the project’s headquarters.

The Future of Serra Gaúcha as a Tourism and Automotive Hub

With the project’s completion expected in the next 10 years, the Dumondo complex promises to elevate Serra Gaúcha to a new level in the tourism and automotive scene. For the city of São Francisco de Paula, this could be the golden opportunity to become one of the most visited regions in Brazil, integrating sports, luxury tourism, and economic development.

Expectations are high, but there are still many challenges ahead. The licensing request in 2025 will mark the first major official step toward the construction of this gigantic undertaking.

Do you think the new racetrack in Serra Gaúcha has the potential to outshine Interlagos and become the main stage for Formula 1 in Brazil?
