Celta successor? The new Chevrolet Aveo is a compact model, cheaper than the Onix, but follows the same successful formula as its larger sibling. Developed in China, the Aveo arrived in Latin America at the beginning of this year and is available only in Mexico, where it has always been popular.

As Chevrolet’s entry model in the country, the Aveo features a nice design, satisfactory performance, and an affordable price, making it an interesting alternative for consumers.

Dimensions and Design: Aveo Is a Slightly Larger Hatch Than Onix

The Aveo is a hatchback slightly larger than the Onix in length, primarily due to the longer front overhang. However, the Onix surpasses the Aveo in other dimensions. The hatchback has a length of 4.17 m, a wheelbase of 2.51 meters, a width of 1.69 meters, a height of 1.49 meters, and weighs 1,112 kg.

Additionally, the trunk holds 304 liters of luggage. The Aveo’s design is appealing, featuring a chrome grille and bumper trim, LED lights, a floating roof, and 15-inch wheels with diamond finish.

Engine and Performance

The popular Chevrolet car is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, capable of generating up to 98 horsepower and 14.5 kg of torque. It can come with a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT with eight simulated speeds.

The performance of the Aveo is not impressive, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds. However, the highlight is the fuel consumption averages, which are excellent. The Chevrolet mini hatch can achieve up to 14.7 km per liter in the city and 16.9 km per liter on the highway in the manual transmission configuration.

Interior and Equipment

The interior of the Aveo follows Chevrolet’s new internal identity, featuring hard plastic finishes all around. The internal space is somewhat cramped, comfortably accommodating four adults and one child.

In terms of equipment, all versions of the Aveo come with power windows, digital climate control integrated with the multimedia system, multifunction steering wheel, onboard computer, 7-inch multimedia system with integrated GPS, rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and much more. Although it does not offer features from a higher category, the Aveo meets the needs of an entry-level car.

Safety: New Mini Hatch from Chevrolet Boasts Five Stars in Latin NCAP Crash Tests

In terms of safety, the Aveo features a simplified yet safe platform that boasts five stars in the Latin NCAP crash tests. The model is also equipped with disc brakes with ABS in the front, airbags, traction and stability controls, three-point seatbelts, headrests, and an ISOFIX system.

In Brazil, the Aveo Would Replace the Basic Versions of the Onix

The Chevrolet Aveo is an interesting alternative for consumers looking for an entry-level model with good cost-benefit. With a nice design, satisfactory performance, and affordable prices, the Aveo can compete with other market models, such as the Renault Kwid, C3, and Fiat Moby.

In Brazil, the Aveo would replace the basic versions of the Onix, offering a more complete and interesting option for Brazilians. With estimated prices between R$ 80,000 and R$ 95,000, the Aveo would certainly attract customers looking for a reliable and economical compact car.

Take a moment to comment if you are a fan of the brand and if you would like this model to be sold in Brazil. Don’t forget to leave 5 stars and activate CPG notifications to keep up with all the news in the automotive world. See you next time!

Só resta saber se o motor terá a indesejável correia dentada banhada a óleo. Se vier com uma mecânica convencional, com correia dentada, seria bem melhor…
