A few days after the announcement of the result of the bidding to build the corvettes, consortia and shipyards must know the new plans of the Brazilian Navy
A few days after knowing the result of the competition to build four Tamandaré Class Corvettes (CCTs), as the date of 26/03 was set, the bidding finalist consortia will be informed by the Brazilian Navy of the intention to launch new bids.
A broader planning of the Brazilian Navy reveals the intention of, by the end of the 2030s, to have a minimum number of 12 escorts and in the long term, to reach a number considered ideal of 18 of these ships.
The Brazilian Navy will not promise, at the moment, to the finalist consortiums, that it will hire new ships, but the winner of the Corvette tender will be a great favorite for these other two contracts.
The expectation is that the first batch will be in the same mold as this tender for CCTs, that is, corvettes or light frigates, with some design changes being implemented.

In a possible second batch to be manufactured in the country, larger ships are being considered, such as frigates with a displacement of 6.000 tons.
These lots would be part of the resumption of PROSUPER (Program for Obtaining Surface Media), which has been stopped since 2014.
By revealing its plans to renew its fleet to the finalists of the CCTs bidding, the Navy wants them to understand that it can indeed be a horizon of opportunities and that better prices now can bring future profits.
It remains to be seen whether foreign shipyards will believe this and invest their business portfolios in this unsecured promise from the Brazilian navy.
fleet renewal
A survey carried out by the Brazilian Navy found that in 15 years it will be necessary to rebuild, in addition to the squadron of escorts, its support squadron, which are transport and supply vessels, and its Mining Countermeasure Force, in Bahia and Itaguaí , which, as internally commented, will be the new Naval Base of the Submarine Force Command.
Another bet of the Navy for the future would be a new order, so that by 2035, it can count on its fleet with one more dock ship, which could be of the Makassar class.
