The day that many 4×4 jeep fans feared has arrived: With the departure of Ford from the country, production of the Trollers is ended, and the search for the last units in Brazil takes off.

To the sadness of brand lovers, there is no more Troller T4 or TX4 in production in Brazil. The factory in Horizonte (CE), previously managed by the multinational Ford, which left Brazil in January this year, stopped producing the model at the end of September. The factory has not closed yet, as it will continue operating until, in principle, November. The intention is to form a stock of spare parts. But there is already movement in dealerships.

On its website, Troller says it will not close dealerships at this first moment. “The Troller Dealer Network will not undergo any changes and will continue to operate normally in Brazil. Future changes will be communicated in advance with full transparency.”

The specimen that appears in the cover image is the TX4, an automatic version of the T4. The unit is for sale at a dealership in Rio Grande do Norte, in Natal, which claims to have received the latest factory model. The value? No less than BRL 299, according to photos taken from the label that came with the vehicle.

In fact, it is a high value since, in other stores that still have the model in stock, the price is R$ 280 thousand. However, according to speculation, the above value would be justified by being the last model in the line. In the posted image, it is possible to notice the factory employees next to the blue and white painted version.

jeep without substitutes

There are no worthy replacements for Trollers. The combination of a short chassis, with a diesel engine and 4×4 with reduced traction is not found in any other model sold in Brazil. The fiberglass bodywork, which does not dent or rust, is a separate highlight.

All second generation Troller T4 and TX4 were equipped with the 3.2 hp 200 five-cylinder engine and have 4×4 with reduced traction. What changes is the exchange, which can be manual or automatic, both six-speed. They are the same components as the Ford Ranger.

The off-road vocation has always been a highlight of the Trollers, whether in the first or second generation. And that served as an argument for none of them being equipped with airbags, only with ABS.

Troller was bought by Ford for R$ 400 million in 2007

Troller was bought by Ford for BRL 400 million in 2007. Founded in 1995 by businessman Rogério Farias, the brand was born as Troler, with only one L, and had the objective of being a national brand of relevance in the 4× jeep market 4, with a special focus on producing vehicles for expeditions and rally competitions.

The name comes from the English “troll”, which can be translated as provocateur, goblin or supernatural being. The idea was to designate a vehicle that is fearless, pioneering and capable of performing magic on trails through the corners of Brazil.

The company's factory has always been in Horizonte (CE), but the operation was soon sold, in 1997, to Mário Araripe, a local investor in the textile and construction sectors. At the time, the jeep it was still in development and had produced 44 pre-series prototypes, all destined for experimental use in rally events.
