The consortium formed by Eneva and PetroReconcavo continues to seek negotiations with Petrobras, even with Prates' position. The ABPIP foresees a great result of jobs in case the sale of Polo Bahia Terra goes through.
The issues involving the sale of Polo Bahia Terra, from Petrobras to a consortium formed by Eneva and PetroReconcavo, become even more ambiguous. After Prates confirmed that does not know if the privatization of the asset will happen, in fact, the Brazilian Association of Independent Oil and Gas Producers (ABPIP) warned of the possible creation of 20 jobs with the transaction, reinforcing its importance.
ABPIP foresees more than 20 jobs in the Brazilian oil and gas sector with the sale of Petrobras' Bahia Terra Hub to Eneva and PetroReconcavo
The Brazilian oil and natural gas market is witnessing this week several impasses in the management of Petrobras regarding the continuity of the privatization project of its assets.
Recently, the president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, pointed out that there was no certainty about the sale of Polo Bahia Terra to Eneva and PetroReconcavo.

Together with the Lula government, the executive has been taking a stand against the concession processes for Petrobras undertakings. However, a new discussion entered the game: the creation of job opportunities in the segment with the sale of the area.
According to ABPIP projections, more than 20 jobs in the oil and gas sector could be created, indirectly or directly, with the concession of the well to the consortium.
The association's executive secretary, Anabal Santos Jr., said: “We have to consider the positive effects that Polo Bahia Terra will bring if it is operated by an independent company. There will be at least 20 [direct and indirect] jobs. In addition, the production of the asset will be tripled”.
In addition, the sale of Polo Bahia Terra may also attract new investments to Bahia, as the region is considered strategic for the oil and gas sector in Brazil.
The sale is expected to be an important boost for the local economy, generating new business and opportunities for companies from different sectors. However, the sale process is still an issue for Petrobras, under the new command of Prates.
ABPIP estimates major losses for Brazil if the state-owned company does not comply with the sale of Polo Bahia Terra in the coming months
The ABPIP secretary recognized that workers in Bahia are not satisfied with the possible sale of Polo Bahia Terra. However, he believes that there may be a reallocation of the staff, to make room for the thousands of new jobs in the region.
Furthermore, the ABPIP believes that there could be some serious consequences if Prates does not finalize the deal.
“The first effect would be for Brazil to enter the list of countries where a company the size of Petrobras does not honor what it signs. Brazil has a long-standing, historic tradition of honoring what is written,” he said.
Another factor that could contribute to the sale of the hub to the consortium formed between Enauta and PetroReconcavo is the expansion of oil productivity in the region. This is because the association recalled that the assets sold by Petrobras double their production.
Now, it remains for the president of Petrobras, Prates, to communicate the company's steps regarding the sale of Polo Bahia Terra, after the speeches of the ABPIP secretary.
