Dutch Company Develops New Hybrid Wind And Solar Generator That Can Be Used In Common Homes.
The use of renewable energy for residential applications has expanded in recent years, largely due to the growing concern for sustainability, reducing carbon footprints, and the need to decrease energy consumption. With this in mind, the company Airturb from the Netherlands has developed a winds and solar generator, which promises to be a cost-effective and efficient solution for both residential uses and applications without grid access.
Wind And Solar Generator Weighs 70 Kg
The hybrid wind and solar generator has the capacity to generate up to 500 W of energy. The equipment consists of a vertical axis wind turbine with a modified “Savonius” helical shape and four 30 W monocrystalline solar panels.
The wind-solar generator can be used both in residential applications and in applications without access to the electrical grid, with a load of 131 kg/m2. The solar panel consists of a galvanized steel and rubber structure, measuring 1.14 x 1.14 meters and 20 mm thick, weighing 35 kg.

This base can accommodate four solar panels with a power of 30 W each, being the Eco Line ES30M36 modules from the German company Enjoy Solar. However, the base is compatible with other types of solar panels. Regarding the hybrid generator, it measures 1.8×1.14×1.14 meters and weighs 70 kg.
The equipment has a weight that can vary from 70 to 100 kg and can operate at temperatures between -25 ºC and 60 ºC. Each panel is made of fiberglass reinforced polyester, weighs 1.5 kg, and measures 1.5×0.7×1.5 mm.
Base Of The Wind And Solar Generator Will Cost 4200 Euros
The wind energy component features a 300 W permanent magnet synchronous axial flow alternator (PMSA) that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy, characterized as three-phase alternating current. The hybrid system includes a DualVolt Hybrid inverter with 500W output power.
This device measures 540x430x139 mm and weighs 25 kg. The generator will come to the market in two versions, one with solar panels and another without, and will be available from the third quarter of this year. The price of the complete package with the solar base and the wind inverter will be around 4200 euros, excluding installation costs.

According to Airturb, this device is developed, designed, and manufactured by the company itself and assembled in the Netherlands, however, produced in Turkey.
The aim of Airturb is to make this hybrid wind and solar generator an attractive solution for households planning to reduce their dependence on the power grid and become more self-sufficient. Furthermore, due to its compact design and easy installation, it is ideal for spaces with limitations.
For now, the wind and solar generator is being marketed only in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, and the company plans to expand the offer to other European countries.
Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Hybrid Generator
Combining wind and solar energy allows for the utilization of two renewable energy sources, mitigating dependence on non-renewable sources and contributing to environmental sustainability. It is worth mentioning that, by producing electricity without being connected to the grid, it also reduces dependence on external suppliers and controls its own energy production.
Although the Airturb wind and solar energy generator presents several advantages, it is essential to consider some disadvantages, among them are the initial cost, limited generation capacity, and dependence on weather conditions.
