The period for female military enrollment starts soon, on January 1, 2025, covering the entire Brazilian territory. Thus, women turning 18 next year will have the option of compulsory military service with vacancies in the Navy, Army, and Air Force. In this article, we will detail everything about the entry of women into the Armed Forces.
1,500 Positions in the Navy, Army, and Air Force Will Be Opened
According to the Brazilian Army website, female military enrollment in the Armed Forces will take place from January 1 to June 30, 2025, exclusively for citizens born in 2007, who will turn 18 in 2025. To do this, simply register at your local military board or complete the enrollment online.
Initially, 1,500 positions in the Navy, Army, and Air Force will be offered for female military service in 2025. However, the incorporation of volunteers will only occur in 2026, after being deemed fit during the selection phase. Upon enrollment, the young Brazilian will remain in the armed form for a minimum period of 12 months, which may extend up to eight years.

The interested parties in female military enrollment in the Armed Forces may choose to serve in the Navy as recruit sailors, in the Air Force as second-class soldiers, or in the Army as soldiers. This is the first time that women across the country will be able to enroll upon turning 18, which was previously only possible for men.
Which Cities Will Have Female Military Enrollment for the Armed Forces?
The General Calling Plan includes vacancies in the Navy, Army, and Air Force in all cities responsible for receiving those interested in military service, according to the three armed forces:
- Rio Grande do Sul: Canoas (Air Force), Porto Alegre, and Santa Maria (Army and Air Force);
- Mato Grosso do Sul: Campo Grande (Army), Corumbá, and Ladário (Navy);
- Amazonas: Manaus (Army and Air Force);
- Goiás: Águas Lindas de Goiás, Cidade Ocidental, Formosa, Luziânia, Novo Gama, Planaltina, Santo Antônio do Descoberto, and Valparaíso de Goiás (all linked to the Navy);
- Pará: Belém (Army and Air Force);
- Paraná: Curitiba (Army);
- São Paulo: São Paulo (Army and Air Force), Guaratinguetá and Pirassununga (Air Force);
- Rio de Janeiro: Rio de Janeiro (Navy, Army, and Air Force);
- Santa Catarina: Florianópolis (Navy);
- Distrito Federal: Brasília (Navy, Army, and Air Force);
- Ceará: Fortaleza (Navy and Army);
- Bahia: Salvador (Navy and Army);
- Pernambuco: Recife (Army and Air Force);
- Minas Gerais: Belo Horizonte and Juiz de Fora (Army), Lagoa Santa (Air Force).
Find Out How the Selection Process for Positions in the Armed Forces Will Be
The recruitment process will consist of female military enrollment (online or in-person), general selection, conducted by a Selection Commission of the Armed Forces, Complementary Section in the barracks, incorporation into a Military Organization.
The decree also states that women who enroll in positions in the Navy, Army, and Air Force will be able to withdraw from military service until the final act of incorporation.
After that, military service will become mandatory and will follow the same requirements imposed on the male gender.
If the interested parties do not attend any of the stages of female military enrollment in the Armed Forces, they will be considered to have withdrawn and will lose the opportunity to join. Furthermore, according to the decree, volunteering women, upon being discharged from Military Service, will be part of the non-paid reserve.
