Renewable Energy Investment Aims to Provide Sustainable Services by 2025
Renewable energy has been a mission for Amazon. This is because the company announced that it will add 2.7 gigawatts of clean energy capacity through several new projects. The projects are part of Amazon’s renewable energy program, which aims to use 100% renewable energy in its operations by 2025.
Thus, after the addition of 71 new renewable energy projects, Amazon now has a total of 379 projects being developed in the area. The projects aim to generate 50 thousand gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy across its portfolio, enough to power 4.6 million homes in the U.S. every year. The new projects include three large-scale plants in the Indian state of Rajasthan, which have a capacity of 420 megawatts (MW), as well as rooftop solar projects in France and Austria. Additionally, Amazon’s mission also includes building its first solar farm in Poland.
The information was disclosed last Wednesday (21), a day after Infinium, a company supported by Amazon, announced that it will provide the company with low-carbon electrofuels, aimed at replacing the diesel used in the company’s transportation fleet.

Amazon Is on the Quest for Renewable Energy
Amazon is constantly seeking renewable energy in its portfolio. In this way, Infinium, a company supported by Amazon, stated that it will supply low-carbon electrofuels for the company’s truck fleet starting in 2023.
This supply of electrofuels is a fossil-based fuel alternative made from carbon waste and renewable energy, which will allow Amazon to reduce its carbon emissions by approximately 8 million kilometers of travel per year.
To achieve this, Amazon stated that it plans to initially use the electrofuels on routes in its fleet located in Southern California.
Amazon Will Have a Photovoltaic Farm in Brazil
On last Wednesday, 21, Amazon announced that it will add 2.7 gigawatts in clean energy production capacity through dozens of new projects around the world. One of them is a photovoltaic farm in Brazil.
Thus, the farm is part of the 71 new renewable projects, which now total 379. As a mission, the retailer aims to use 100% renewable energy in its activities by 2025.
Additionally, Amazon also announced its first renewable energy project in South America: a solar farm with a capacity of 122 MW.
Thus, Amazon expects to generate 850 direct jobs in Brazil, especially during the construction phase of the project, with more than 30 permanent positions when the farm is operational.
Furthermore, the company also stated that the project includes an investment of 2 million reais in environmental programs during the farm’s setup, seeking to promote biodiversity in the country. So far, the construction site of the farm has not been revealed by the company.
