Amazon and Meta Are Developing a Training Program for Brazilians Over 18 Focused on Future Opportunities in the Metaverse, Prioritizing the Training of Women, LGBTQIA+, Vulnerable Individuals, and Others.
Meta, owner of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, announced a training project for 50,000 Brazilians in cloud technologies, digital marketing, and metaverse-related fields by 2023. The initiative will be launched in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) within a new program called Portal Tech.
Requirements to Participate in the Metaverse Training Program
The project by Amazon and Meta is aimed at individuals over 18, targeting those who graduated from public schools, with a priority for training women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and Black individuals in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Pernambuco, Amazonas, and Alagoas.
The initiative for the Metaverse aims to provide training for a large number of people and meet the demand for cloud computing talent across Latin America. The partnership between Meta and Amazon focuses on fostering a virtuous cycle by training individuals in social vulnerability, whether they are young people at the start of their career or experienced professionals seeking to relocate in the job market.

The Metaverse Training Project Will Be Carried Out in Two Phases
The project by Amazon and Meta will be divided into two phases, with the first starting in August, aimed at training 25,000 people in AWS cloud fundamentals, provided free of charge by Ka Solution, a partner of Amazon.
The other 25,000 people will have access to free basic courses in digital marketing and augmented reality on Meta’s Blueprint platform.
The second phase will provide spaces for 2,000 students from 17 cities to use computers, where the professional school Proz Educação has physical units or partnerships.
As a requirement, students must undergo initial training and demonstrate interest in working with these technologies.
To participate, candidates must have graduated from high school at a public school, and criteria of gender and race will also be considered, prioritizing Black individuals and women as mentioned earlier.
Selected candidates will be trained in Introduction to Programming in an online and in-person course focused on technical skills such as introduction to programming in Javascript, Node JS, introduction to web services, and databases.
The cities benefiting from the units or partnerships of Proz Educação are:
