With the arrival of the largest export flows at national ports, diesel production at Brazilian refineries begins to increase significantly to meet the high demand of the national port market, according to ANP data.
During last Tuesday (07/26), the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) released data on diesel production during June and confirmed that there was an increase of 11.2% at Brazilian refineries. This number was driven by the arrival of the soybean export season at Brazilian ports, boosting the demand for fuel across the national scenario.
June Sees Increased Diesel Production at Brazilian Refineries and ANP Details Rise in Each Type of Fuel in Report
June was quite positive for the Brazilian fuel sector regarding the production of one of the main resources in the industry, diesel, which suffered a strong deficit during the first months of the year and has been recovering rapidly.
According to ANP data, diesel production at Brazilian refineries in June was 3.671 billion liters, an increase of 11.2% compared to the same month in 2021, ensuring a strong presence at the country’s refineries this month.

ANP data for this increase in diesel production during June considers the strong rise in demand for fuel, and regarding the first half of the year, Brazil produced 21.29 billion liters of diesel in its refineries, adding S-10 and S500, used in trucks with engines. The standout of the period was the S-10 diesel, whose production grew 20.4% in June compared to the previous year, while the S500 advanced only 0.7%.
Also considering the first half of 2022, ANP data indicates that there was a production of 12.4 billion liters of S-10, representing a 24.4% increase compared to the same production period in 2021.
The S500, on the other hand, did not have a good moment during this period and had a production of only 8.89 billion liters, a decrease of 7.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Demand for Diesel Will Increase Significantly Due to Increased Soybean Exports, and the National Agency Points to Movement in the National Market
In its report on diesel production at Brazilian refineries, ANP highlighted that the current scenario for fuel generation is focused on the high demand expected in the coming months, between August and September, when soybean exports typically intensify, adding to the flows of corn to the ports. Thus, port operations require more supply of fuel, and refineries are keeping up with this demand by increasing productivity.
Regarding other fuels processed at Brazilian refineries, there was also a significant increase due to high demand, according to ANP. Among them, gasoline A (pure) totaled 2.144 billion liters produced in June, an increase of 0.6% compared to June 2021, while oil processing operations at all refineries in the country were 311.7 million liters per day in June, an increase of 8.1% compared to June 2021.
Finally, in the ranking of the largest refineries in semester production, ANP announced that the winner was the Paulínia Refinery (Replan) of Petrobras, located in the State of São Paulo, which accounted for a total of 20.7% of the semester’s volume.
