The Opinions And Suggestions That Interested Parties Provide Regarding The Privatization Of The Port Of Santos, In São Paulo, Will Be For Analysis By Antaq. The Public Consultation Is Available In A Form, On The Agency’s Portal.    

On the last day of January 31, the National Agency For Waterway Transportation, Antaq, opened a public consultation as a way to receive suggestions and contributions regarding the privatization of the Port Of Santos, located in the state of São Paulo. Interested parties who wish to contribute their opinion have until March 16 to do so. The public consultation will be available on the Antaq website, through an electronic form.

Antaq Decided To Establish This Public Consultation Because The Grant Period For The Port Terminal Of Santos Will Be 35 Years, Renewable For Only 5 More Years.

The Investments That Are Expected For Some Adjustments To The Port Infrastructure Add Up To Approximately R$ 16 Billion, And Should Take Place Over The Duration Of The Contract.

Thus, Antaq Seeks To Gather External Perspectives On The Possible Privatization Of The Port Terminal In São Paulo. All Opinions And Suggestions Received Will Be Available To Interested Parties On The Antaq Portal Once The Public Consultation Period Ends In March.

Amount Of Capital And Payment Of Fees Will Be Used To Cover Antaq’s Oversight Work

According To Antaq, The Initial Capital Amount Will Be R$ 1.38 Billion. In Addition, A Variable Contribution To The Grantor, Equivalent To 2.25% Per Year On The Consolidated Gross Revenue, Must Be Made.

In Addition To The Capital Amount And The Fee On The Consolidated Gross Revenue, The Future Concessionaire Will Also Be Responsible For Paying An Annual Oversight Fee, Amounting To R$ 6.4 Million, To Antaq. This Fee Will Be Used To Cover The Oversight And Regulation Work Of The Concession Model.

The Agency Also Highlighted That, According To The Model Proposed By The Agency, There Is A Forecast Of A Financial Contribution Of Around R$ 3 Billion From The Future Concessionaire, To Build A Tunnel That Will Serve As A Quicker And More Viable Connection Between The Cities Of Santos And Guarujá, In São Paulo.

Contracts For Operation At The Port Of Santos, In São Paulo

Antaq Also Discussed The Tenants, Holders Of Transition Contracts, Shipowners, Maritime Transporters, And Port Operators Of The Private Use Terminals Of The Port Complex, As Well As The Railway Concessionaires That Already Operate At The Port Of Santos, Along With Companies That Belong To The Economic Group, That May Participate In The Bidding Process To Be Established. However, There Is A Limitation For Participation In This Process, Which Is 15% For Individual Participation And 40% When They Are Part Of Consortia From Other Groups But Of The Same Nature.
