The complaint was made by the employees themselves, who claim that the food industry is not respecting the quarantine imposed by the municipal decree in Campo Grande – which prohibits gatherings of more than 20 people in an enclosed space.

In an interview with Jornal Midiamax, one of the workers who performs her tasks in a sort of warehouse stated that the workplace has little ventilation.

The worker also reported that the company is not taking the necessary measures to protect its employees against the new coronavirus pandemic.

According to employee reports, they have been working completely unprotected, as the company did not provide masks, gloves, or hand sanitizer.

Another employee who works a different shift, from 12 PM to 10 PM, says that an average of 200 people are working crowded together and without safety. “The fear is great because there are people who have the flu working on-site and service goes on as usual,” she said.

According to the team from Jornal Midiamax, the company declined to comment.

The measure may be adopted for sectors more susceptible to the economic crisis, such as restaurants, bars, cinemas, and airlines. The idea, according to the government’s vice-leader, is to provide relief to companies during the crisis and avoid mass layoffs.
