Three Distinct Courses for Varied Audiences
The spots are divided among three different courses: Basic French I, Basic French II, and the FRANMOBE course.
Each of them caters to specific profiles and has a workload focused on developing distinct competencies in the language.
In Basic French I, 45 spots will be offered for students from any IFMG campus, in addition to 15 spots exclusively for active employees, whether they are stationed at campuses or at the headquarters.
This course is ideal for beginners who wish to build a solid foundation in the language.
Basic French II is aimed at those who already have some familiarity with the language.
15 spots will be available for students in regular courses and 5 for active employees.
The idea is to deepen the knowledge acquired previously, especially in reading, writing, listening comprehension, and grammar.
The third course, FRANMOBE, is geared exclusively towards students from IFMG campuses interested in exchange programs.
With 20 spots open, the training aims to prepare participants for academic experiences abroad, especially through the “French Assistants” program, an initiative that promotes international mobility between Brazilian and francophone educational institutions.
Strengthening Exchange and Internationalization
According to information released by IFMG, the FRANMOBE course plays a strategic role in preparing students for opportunities outside Brazil.
In addition to linguistic proficiency, students are encouraged to understand cultural and academic aspects of French-speaking countries, which increases their chances of success in international selection processes.
The program also strengthens IFMG’s institutional presence in global cooperation networks, such as the Network of Federal Institutions with Internationalization Projects, enhancing the visibility of Brazilian students in universities and research centers abroad.
According to the official announcement, the courses focus on practical skills, such as conversation, active listening, everyday vocabulary, and essential grammatical structures for fluency.
The teaching is tailored to the level of each class and will be delivered by a native French assistant, which adds greater authenticity to the lessons.
Free and Online Education: Democratization of Knowledge
All courses will be offered in a distance format, with live meetings over the internet.
This strategy allows students from different regions to access quality education without leaving home.
Digital inclusion and flexibility in scheduling are factors that particularly benefit those with a busy routine of studies or work.
Participants will receive a certificate upon completing the training, provided they meet the minimum attendance and performance requirements.
This certification can be a competitive advantage on resumes, especially in times when fluency in another language is increasingly valued in the job market.
Learning French for free also represents a cultural gain.
The language, spoken by over 300 million people across five continents, is one of the most used in international organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, Red Cross, and European Union.
Mastering French can open doors in various fields such as diplomacy, tourism, gastronomy, arts, fashion, and international relations.
Why Learn French in Brazil in 2025?
With the growing rapprochement between Brazil and French-speaking countries through agreements on technical, academic, and commercial cooperation, French has regained relevance in the Brazilian educational and professional landscape.
The language, often overshadowed by English and Spanish, is increasingly sought after by students who wish to stand out.
Exchange programs like Campus France, scholarships from La Francophonie, and bilateral partnerships with Canadian and French institutions have boosted the demand for accessible and quality courses.
By offering these opportunities for free, IFMG directly contributes to the training of citizens better prepared for the globalized world.
As highlighted by the DRI of IFMG, initiatives like this are part of the institution’s strategic internationalization plan, which seeks to make public education increasingly connected to the demands of the 21st century.
