Free Online And In-Person Courses For Programming And Game Creation Launched By Oi Futuro
The Oi Futuro Institute opened registrations for the Nave em Órbita project, which offers free courses focused on programming and game development. The initiative consists of a training track, available in both online and in-person formats, with four courses that introduce fundamental concepts of game creation, such as game design, programming logic, as well as the development of visual and auditory arts for digital games.
With a national market that generates more than R$ 13 billion annually, according to the Newzoo Global Games Market Report 2023, Brazil is home to approximately 100 million gamers and more than 1,000 game development companies, establishing itself as a promising landscape for those looking to enter the field.
Free Game And Programming Courses
The in-person courses will have limited spots and a course load of 16 hours, divided into four classes of four hours each, always on Fridays in November (1, 8, 22, and 29). Classes will be held at the Colégio Estadual José Leite Lopes, the headquarters of the NAVE Program, located in the Andaraí neighborhood in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Targeted at youth aged 13 to 16, the course “Creating My First Digital Game” will be based on collaborative and practical activities, where topics such as gaming culture, design, programming, and visual and sound arts will be discussed.
The online courses from Nave em Órbita will be self-instructive and will be available for free starting October 22 for students across Brazil, with certification for those who complete the training track. The classes, geared towards students aged 13 and older, include topics such as Introduction to Game Design, Programming Logic, Visual Arts, and Sound Arts for Games. With a total duration of 8 hours, each module offers two hours of introductory content, with simple and free tools for students to develop their own games from scratch.
Launch And Workshop
On October 22, to mark the official launch of the online courses, the Nave em Órbita project will hold a live event at the Colégio Estadual José Leite Lopes, featuring a hands-on workshop for young people present at the location. The event will also include a discussion forum titled “Digital Games: From Fun to Professional Future,” where industry experts will share their experiences and the challenges of their careers in the gaming market.
To participate, it is necessary for the student to be enrolled in a public elementary or high school and have availability to attend classes in the afternoon. Registrations are open until October 15.
