Arthwind Technology Will Ease Maintenance of Hard-to-Reach Wind Turbine Blades

The Brazil Windpower 2022 conference took place last week and brought several innovations and technologies for the wind energy sector. Last Wednesday (19), exhibitor Armando Costa Rego, co-owner of Arthwind, a company operating in the wind turbine blade inspection sector, demonstrated the company’s significant contribution.

He brought state-of-the-art equipment to the conference to assist in the management of wind turbine blades. In this context, the computational drone was the star of the event, showcasing how it can be effective in the maintenance and monitoring of the blades of the towers. Arthwind Co-Owner Points Out That This Drone Technology Allows Greater Efficiency and Less Maintenance Time for Blades

During the Brazil Windpower 2022 event, the co-owner of Arthwind shared some details about the company’s new product. The Brazil Windpower is the main wind energy event in Latin America, aiming to provide a true immersion in technology, innovation, and sustainability to aid in the development of the wind industry in Brazil.

Pointing to the prototypes at the booth, he made some observations.

“As you can see, autonomous drones with computer vision reduce the downtime of a machine during its tasks by up to ten times.”

Armando also highlighted some achievements of the company in the wind energy sector. In this regard, the company has made significant advances over the years. Thus, it is increasingly present in the generation of clean and renewable energy.

New Computational Drone Enables Accurate Monitoring of Wind Energy Parks

The computational drone presented by Arthwind during the Brazil Windpower 2022 features a technology that allows for smoother and more stable flights than conventional models. As a result, control is more practical, fast, and efficient during the inspection of the quality of wind turbine blades.

Furthermore, the new drone has great battery autonomy, allowing continuous use for many hours. Its camera has exceptional resolution, capable of showing all the fine details regarding the maintenance needs of the blades. According to Armando, this new model can reduce wind tower downtime due to maintenance needs by up to ten times.

The drone is equipped with a robotic structure that allows for closer monitoring of specific components, with greater efficiency. In this sense, the drone is monitored and controlled by a highly sensitive software. Therefore, this new device can bring cost reductions in maintenance due to predictive capabilities and also by reducing downtime.
