Expansion of wholesale in Santos boosts hiring and moves the job market with hundreds of operational vacancies and centralized in-person selection in the city center, amid the final construction phase of a new large unit.
A new supermarket unit in the final construction phase in Santos concentrates 220 job vacancies and mobilizes the opening of positions in operational roles related to food retail.
The opportunities are available at the Public Employment and Labor Center (CPET), inside the Poupatempo, in the city center, and are part of a coordinated action between the City Hall of Santos and the company responsible for the project.
This movement increases the volume of hiring in the wholesale and supermarket sector of the city, at a time when the Atacadão chain is preparing its second unit in Santos, in the Vila Mathias neighborhood.

The construction was formally approved at the end of December 2025, and the city hall informed in March 2026 that the new store was nearing the opening phase, although the start of operations still depends on the administrative steps following the completion of construction.
Atacadão in Santos: new unit and expansion on the coast
The vacancies related to the new unit are intended for basic supermarket activities, with selection aimed at different profiles and requirements that vary according to the position.
According to the city hall, the requirements are not detailed beforehand in the publication and need to be consulted directly at the in-person service of the CPET, the official channel used to concentrate the forwarding of candidates.
The opening of the future store marks the expansion of Atacadão in a strategic location in Vila Mathias, an area of intense circulation and a recent target for new commercial projects.
Reports published in 2026 indicate that the project will be implemented on land in the region of Rua Silva Jardim and will consolidate the second operation of the brand in the municipality, which already has one unit in operation in the Northwest Zone.
In the Baixada Santista, the chain also operates in Guarujá, Praia Grande, and São Vicente, reinforcing the regional advancement of the brand on the São Paulo coast.
The new front in Santos adds to this expansion plan and, at the same time, helps explain the high number of vacancies opened before the inauguration, as supermarkets of this size usually begin hiring even in the final assembly phase of the team.
The city hall associates this concentration of vacancies with the effort to facilitate the population’s access to the formal job market.
In a statement released on the official portal, the Secretary of Port and Employment Affairs, Bruno Orlandi, stated that when companies announce their positions at the CPET, the administration can “centralize opportunities in a single channel” and make it easier for residents to access the vacancies available in the city.
Vacancies at Atacadão: positions and areas with opportunities
Although the official announcement about the 220 opportunities does not detail the complete list of positions for this selection, local coverage about the opening of the unit informs that there is a demand for typical roles in the daily operation of the wholesale store.
Among them are cashier, stock clerk, store operator, warehouse assistant, and butcher, positions that support service, stocking, and operation of internal sectors.
In addition to the main batch linked to the new store, the wholesale sector maintained 85 additional vacancies registered at the CPET during the same period, distributed among various functions.
- Store operator: 10 vacancies
- Cashier: 20 vacancies
- Deli and dairy attendant: 5 vacancies
- Produce attendant: 5 vacancies
- Warehouse assistant: 10 vacancies
- Loss prevention officer: 10 vacancies
- Forklift operator: 5 vacancies
- Maintenance assistant: 5 vacancies
- Merchandise stock clerk: 10 vacancies
- Butcher: 5 vacancies
This overview shows that the demand is not limited to direct customer service.
There is also room for back-office, maintenance, and logistics areas, essential sectors for the operation of larger units.
Still, the specific hiring conditions, such as required experience, education, or work shifts, depend on the in-person screening conducted by the CPET and the interviews conducted by the company.
In-person selection process in the center of Santos
The initial forwarding of interested parties occurs at the CPET desk, but the interview phase has been organized at another address in the center.
According to the city hall, the selection process will be held at Resolve Aqui, at Rua Amador Bueno, 249.
At the location, representatives of the company responsible for the unit will conduct the interviews and may finalize hiring according to the professional profile and the needs of each vacancy.
The choice to concentrate the selection in this structure aims to accelerate the filling of positions, especially in an operation with a large volume of admissions in a short period.
The strategy also reduces the dispersion of applications and gathers, in the same flow, vacancy inquiries, forwarding, and direct contact with recruiters.
At the same time, the opening of the new unit occurs amid the final preparation of the construction.
The city hall reported that the project is in the final construction phase and, after completion, it will still be necessary to request the occupancy permit for regular operation.
