PCH Paranatinga: A Milestone for Renewable Energy

Atiaia Renováveis, a leading company in the generation and commercialization of renewable energy, celebrates a remarkable achievement with its Small Hydroelectric Plant (PCH) Paranatinga, located in Mato Grosso. The facility has just received the REC Brazil certification, becoming the third PCH in Brazil to fulfill all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN).

Certification and Commitment to a Clean Future

The Totum Institute, responsible for issuing the REC Brazil certification, recognized PCH Paranatinga for its commitment to sustainability. This certification, an initiative of several leading associations in the energy market, aims to promote energy generation from renewable sources with high performance in sustainability.

Atiaia Renováveis Sustainability Strategy

Lígia Guedes, Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager of Atiaia Renováveis, emphasizes the integration of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance (ESG) principles into the company’s operations. “Our goal is to be a catalyst for the sustainable transformation of the energy sector,” Guedes states, underscoring the company’s effort and dedication to harmonizing its operations with the environment.

Location and Capacity of PCHs

PCH Paranatinga is strategically located between Paranatinga and Campinápolis, with a capacity of 29 MW and an annual generation of 130 thousand MW. The first PCH to achieve the UN SDGs was PCH Bandeirante, and the second was PCH Garganta da Jararaca, both also operated by Atiaia Renováveis and located in Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso, respectively.

I-REC and REC-Brazil Certificates

Atiaia Renováveis sells its I-REC certificates along with the REC-Brazil seal, assuring customers that the energy is produced from renewable sources and that the projects comply with global sustainability criteria. These certificates not only certify the generation of clean energy but also reinforce the company’s commitment to Brazil’s energy transition.

Benefits of Acquiring the Certificates

By acquiring Atiaia Renováveis certificates, companies gain a series of advantages, including globally recognized certification, auditing, and security, as well as contributing to the neutralization of CO2 emissions related to energy consumption and encouraging the growth of a renewable and sustainable energy matrix.

About Atiaia Renováveis

Atiaia Renováveis stands out as a sustainable transformation agent, continuously applying ESG practices in all its processes. With a generating park of 376 MW and a pipeline of 1.9 GW in developing projects in PCHs, solar, and wind, the company is committed to generating clean energy, with low environmental impact and in harmony with the communities where it operates.

This milestone of Atiaia Renováveis reflects a significant advance in the clean energy sector in Brazil, promoting a more sustainable and responsible energy transition.
