SISTAC expands contract with Petrobras for maintenance of platforms in the Santos, Campos, and Espírito Santo basins using ROV and specialized underwater operations.
The Bahia distributor intends to purchase at least 2,000 m³/day of biomethane on firm bases, with supply starting by January 2025, and plans to finalize the public call with the signing of a contract with one of the suppliers during October of this year.
Additionally, the company expects the biomethane plant to be installed in the state to be located near the cities that receive the distributor’s product, to facilitate fuel transportation. If this does not occur, the company has determined that it will be the responsibility of the winning supplier among the three to ensure the necessary infrastructure for the transportation of biomethane to the regions.
“We have concluded an important phase of the process and we have good prospects for advancing the discussions on the supply of biomethane,” highlighted the gas supply and market manager at Bahiagas, Makyo Félix. Now, the process of finalizing the public call can be accelerated, and the company continues to analyze the proposals made by each of the suppliers.
The Company Is a National Leader in the Number of Suppliers and Aims to Expand Business with a Public Call for the Supply of Natural Gas Biomethane in the Coming Years
The renewable gas distributor Bahiagas is currently the largest company in the national territory in terms of the number of suppliers, having ten partnerships for the internal supply of natural gas. Among them, the largest supplier is Galp, responsible for 24% of the contracted volume, followed by Shell (20%) and Petrobras (15%). Bahiagas currently purchases 3.6 million m³/day of gas and is looking to further expand these figures with new biomethane suppliers.
Furthermore, at the end of June of this year, the government of the state of Bahia finalized the acquisition of Gaspetro’s stake in Bahiagas for a total of R$ 540 million, aiming to ensure more participation in the renewable gas distributor. Thus, the state administration, which previously held 51% of the voting shares, now holds 75%, and regarding total capital, the participation went from 17% to 57%.
The Secretary of Infrastructure of Bahia, Marcus Cavalcanti, stated that the state government will decide whether to sell the company’s shares in 2023, but the current goal is to ensure new biomethane suppliers to expand the fuel market in the Bahia region.
