With the Growth of the Mineral Sector in the State of Bahia, the Need for New Investments in Innovation Projects in Mining Is Increasing and Bamin Signed an Agreement with Senai Cimatec to Invest R$ 4.2 Million in This Segment.

During last Tuesday (09/08), the CEO of Bamin, Eduardo Ledsham, the president of Fieb, Ricardo Alban, and the director of Technology and Innovation at Senai Cimatec, Leone Andrade, signed a contract worth R$ 4.2 million with Senai Cimatec, aiming to invest in the development of innovation projects in the mining sector to expand the mineral market in Bahia over the coming years and take advantage of the sector’s growth.

Senai Cimatec Partners with Bamin for Investments in Innovation Projects Targeted at the Mining Sector in the State of Bahia

In a meeting with representatives from Senai Cimatec and representatives from the state of Bahia, as well as the CEO of Bamin, Eduardo Ledsham, and the president of Fieb, Ricardo Alban, Bamin closed an agreement with the institute worth R$ 4.2 million, which will be invested in innovation projects in mining, including the execution of technological services. This includes consulting, modeling, and process optimization at Bamin. Also involved in the signing were the CEO of Bamin Ferrovias, Sérgio Leite, the manager of New Business, Paulo Varela, and the manager of Innovation, Lafayette Caporali.

Bamin has been investing heavily in the mining sector and in internal and external innovation projects within its operations and has, to date, contracted studies to identify the demands and energy matrices used by the company and to assess carbon emissions in existing processes.

Additionally, investments also include projects for mapping solutions for the decarbonization of the company’s operations, thereby aiding in decision-making within the production chain to make it more sustainable.

The company’s agreement also stipulates that Senai Cimatec will conduct studies through Computational Simulation of the logistics system of the section of the West-East Integration Railway (Fiol), which connects Caetité to the Port of Ilhéus.

The main objective of this initiative among the company’s projects is to ensure an analysis of the economic projections of the mineral sector, enabling logistical improvements in the area. Furthermore, there will also be studies focused on the productive plant project of the Pedra de Ferro mine, with an eye on technologies of Industry 4.0.

Bamin Highlights Growth Potential of the Mineral Sector with Innovation Projects in Partnership with Senai Cimatec

During the meeting for the contract signing, the CEO of Bamin, Eduardo Ledsham, emphasized the strong growth of the mining sector in the state of Bahia over the past few years and stated that the innovation projects to be developed with the multimillion investment and the agreement with Senai Cimatec will be essential for further expanding this segment.

Ricardo Alban, the president of Fieb, reinforced Bahia’s relevance in the renewables sector, which is also included in the agreement’s projects, and stated: “Bamin is one of the main players in mining, a sector that has been showing leaps in development and standing out as one of the growth vectors for the state. Therefore, the importance of this partnership with Senai Cimatec, a center of innovation and technology of excellence, which will contribute to improving processes and gaining efficiency for the company.”

Now, Bamin will focus its efforts on continuing to work closely with Senai Cimatec and aims to make the state of Bahia an even greater reference regarding the power of the mining sector in relation to Brazilian states.
