BNDES Approved Financing to Boost Neomille’s Production in Goiás, Strengthening the Bioenergy Sector with the Expansion of the Corn Ethanol Plant and Promoting Advances in Brazilian Agribusiness
On October 27, 2025, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved financing of R$ 300 million for the expansion of the corn ethanol plant of Neomille, located in Chapadão do Céu, in the state of Goiás. The project represents a milestone for the bioenergy sector and for strengthening Brazilian agribusiness.
Neomille and the Role of the Corn Ethanol Plant in Agribusiness
The expansion will allow Neomille to increase its production capacity to up to 527 thousand m³ of ethanol per harvest, as well as produce 265 thousand tons of DDGS (dried grains with solubles) and 21 thousand tons of corn oil. These figures reflect the transformative potential of the investment, both economically and environmentally.
Neomille, a subsidiary of Cerradinho Bioenergia, is one of the leading companies in the biofuels sector in Brazil. Its unit in Goiás already stands out for the efficient and sustainable production of corn ethanol, and now, with the support of BNDES, the company will be able to further expand its operations.

Brazil accelerates decarbonization in the South: International forum in Foz do Iguaçu gathers leaders to discuss the advancement of biomethane in the energy matrix and the potential of “caipira pre-salt.”
The project aligns with the objectives of the New Brazil Industry, an initiative that seeks to promote energy transition and decarbonization of the national matrix. Furthermore, the expansion of the plant will contribute to the generation of 91 permanent jobs, both direct and indirect, and hundreds of temporary positions during the construction.
The plant also stands out for adopting modern technologies and for its integration with the local agricultural sector, strengthening the production chain and promoting regional development.
BNDES and Neomille Initiative: Sustainability and Positive Environmental Impact
One of the main benefits of the expansion is the positive environmental impact. According to estimates from Neomille itself, the project will avoid the emission of around 101 thousand tons of CO₂ equivalent per year. This data reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable practices and to mitigating climate change.
Additionally, the use of corn as raw material for ethanol production allows for the utilization of coproducts such as DDGS, used in animal nutrition, and corn oil, which can be destined for the food and biodiesel industries. This diversification strengthens the production chain and reduces waste.
The production of corn ethanol also contributes to the country’s energy security, providing a renewable alternative to fossil fuels and promoting energy independence.
Goiás as a National Reference in Bioenergy
The state of Goiás has consolidated itself as one of the main bioenergy hubs in Brazil. With a favorable climate, logistical infrastructure, and strong agribusiness presence, the region attracts robust investments and stands out in the production of grains and biofuels.
The expansion of Neomille’s corn ethanol plant reinforces this regional vocation. Chapadão do Céu, where the unit is located, has a high agricultural productivity index and is strategic for the flow of production to the main consumer centers in the country.
Furthermore, the state has invested in public policies aimed at innovation and sustainability, creating a favorable environment for the growth of companies like Neomille.
The Role of BNDES in Sustainable Development
The BNDES has played a fundamental role in financing projects focused on sustainability and industrial innovation. By approving the credit of R$ 300 million for Neomille, the bank reaffirms its commitment to bioenergy and the modernization of the agro-industrial sector.
According to an official note, the financing is part of the support line for the New Brazil Industry, which prioritizes investments in strategic sectors for the economic and environmental development of the country. This type of initiative is essential to accelerate the energy transition and promote the competitiveness of the national industry.
BNDES’s support also contributes to job creation, strengthening the regional economy, and reducing social inequalities, promoting a more inclusive development model.
Prospects for the Corn Ethanol Market
The corn ethanol market has been growing steadily in Brazil. In 2024, national production exceeded 4 billion liters, with growth projections for the coming years. The expansion of Neomille’s capacity will directly contribute to this progress, consolidating the country as a reference in biofuels.
Furthermore, corn ethanol presents competitive advantages over sugarcane ethanol, such as greater production stability throughout the year and lower dependence on climatic factors. This complementarity strengthens the Brazilian energy matrix and expands options for consumers.
Studies indicate that Brazil could become one of the world’s largest producers of corn ethanol, especially with the support of public policies and private investments like those of Neomille.
Economic and Social Benefits of Neomille’s Expansion
The expansion of Neomille’s plant in Goiás not only brings environmental gains but also relevant economic and social impacts. The generation of direct and indirect jobs stimulates the local economy, while the increase in production strengthens the competitiveness of the agro-industrial sector.
Furthermore, the project contributes to the development of clean technologies, stimulates innovation, and promotes the training of the local workforce. These factors are essential for building a sustainable and resilient growth model.
The presence of Neomille also encourages the emergence of new businesses in the region, such as suppliers, carriers, and service providers, creating a dynamic and integrated ecosystem.
The Importance of Bioenergy for Brazil’s Future
The approval of R$ 300 million financing by BNDES for Neomille marks a pivotal moment for the bioenergy sector and for Brazilian agribusiness. With increased production capacity, job creation, and emission reductions, the project represents a model of sustainable and innovative development.
Goiás consolidates itself as a national reference in bioenergy, while Neomille reinforces its position as a leader in the corn ethanol market. BNDES’s support demonstrates that Brazil is on the right track to build a greener, more efficient, and competitive economy.
