bp Discovers Oil And Gas Signs In The Bumerangue Block, In The Pre-Salt Of The Santos Basin, Strengthening Its Presence In Brazil And Expanding Its Energy Portfolio.
bp, one of the global giants in the energy sector, found indications of oil and gas in the exploratory well 1-BP-13-SPS, located in the Bumerangue block, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin. Drilling began at the end of May 2025, using the Valaris Renaissance drillship, at a depth of 2,300 meters. The discovery strengthens the company’s strategic operations in Brazil, one of its priority markets.
The initiative is part of bp’s efforts to expand its presence in high-energy potential areas. The Bumerangue block was fully acquired in 2022, during the 1st Cycle of the Permanent Sharing Option (OPP), and now shows promising signs that could drive new investments.
