Brazil is leading the G20 and seizing opportunities to take charge of discussions for a global agenda. With B20 Brazil under the country’s leadership, the first official act – the Opening Event – will take place on January 29 at the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN), in Rio de Janeiro, and will gather government authorities such as the Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin, and CEOs of Brazilian and foreign companies. This is the first time Brazil has taken the coordination of the business forum, exercised by the Federation of Industries (FIRJAN).
Brazil is also participating in the G20 engagement group, where the 20 economies involved in the forum are discussing important issues for the global economy. With Brazil’s advances in this area, the country is positioning itself increasingly relevant in the international context. Brazil’s leadership in the B20 and G20 reflects the recognition of the country’s economic and political importance on the world stage.
B20 Brazil Launch Event
The launch event of B20 Brazil is the first on the agenda of the engagement groups of G20 Brazil and will gather around 700 participants from Brazil and other member countries, from various industry segments. Among them are figures such as political scientist and president of Eurasia, Ian Bremmer, specializing in global foreign policy, transitional states, and global political risk; the president of the World Economic Forum, Børge Brende; the chair of B20 Brazil, Dan Ioschpe; the sherpa of G20, ambassador Mauricio Lyrio; and the coordinator of the G20 Finance Track, Tatiana Rosito.

B20 Meetings in 2024
During the event, the priorities of the G20 and B20 will be presented. Strategies of the B20 will also be discussed to promote inclusive social and economic development focused on innovation and productivity. After the Opening Event, the work of B20 Brazil will happen virtually in each of the seven task forces and the action council. Led by major Brazilian executives, the groups are formed by entrepreneurs from Brazil and abroad who will focus on discussions and proposals within the following themes: Trade and Investment, Finance and Infrastructure, Employment and Education, Energy Transition and Climate, Digital Transformation, Integrity and Compliance, Sustainable Food Systems and Agriculture, in addition to the Action Council Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion in Business.

Journalists will be accommodated in a space reserved for the press in the auditorium, and there will also be a press room, from which they can follow the launch live by video.

A medium-sized platform will be set up for cameramen and photographers in the auditorium.

CNI has reserved a space for ‘break the ice’. It will be up to the authorities and their advisors to decide to speak with the press.
