After Investing R$ 40 Billion and Adding 11.4 GW of Solar Power in 2025, Brazil Prepares for Its First Battery Auction in April 2026 and for the SNEC PV & ES LATAM Fair, Which Promises to Boost Utilities, Businesses, and Homes Across the Country with Storage.
Driven by investments of around R$ 40 billion and the addition of 11.4 gigawatts in 2025, the Brazilian solar energy market ends the year with 65 GW installed and consolidates itself among the largest in the world, generating nearly 400,000 jobs and attracting new projects.
Now, with the regulation of battery storage under Law 15.269/2025 and the first Capacity Reserve Auction scheduled for April 2026, the country is preparing to showcase these solutions at SNEC PV & ES LATAM, in São Paulo, from March 24 to 26, 2026, just after the giant edition of SNEC in Shanghai held from June 11 to 13, 2025.
Battery Auction Begins New Phase of the Electric Grid
After the approval of Law 15.269/2025, which regulated energy storage in batteries, the Capacity Reserve Auction is scheduled for April 2026, the first Brazilian auction dedicated exclusively to contracting power from batteries.

Roraima bets on the sun to escape high tariffs: Amid the energy crisis and price hikes, solar energy is growing in Roraima and transforming consumption in the North region.
These storage systems will ensure the availability of energy produced by solar and wind power plants precisely at times when there is no production, <strong unlocking investments and providing greater security to the electric system.
With the ability to store energy on a large scale, the system operator gains flexibility to meet consumption peaks, reduce the activation of more expensive sources, and make the energy matrix even cleaner.
The bet is that the auction will launch a new phase for solar energy in the country, connecting renewable generation, grid stability, and new business models.
Solar Energy with Batteries Reaches Homes and Small Businesses
The use of batteries alongside solar energy generation will not be restricted to large centralized power plants.
As equipment becomes more affordable, the expectation is for strong growth in residential and commercial installations, giving more autonomy to consumers.
In other countries, systems that combine solar panels and batteries already allow families and businesses to reduce their electricity bills and have protection against power outages.
The trend is that Brazil will follow this path, with integrators, manufacturers, and investors taking advantage of the new regulatory framework to offer complete solutions, from rooftops to batteries installed in garages, condos, and small businesses.
SNEC PV & ES LATAM Transforms São Paulo into Global Showcase
From March 24 to 26, 2026, São Paulo will host SNEC PV & ES LATAM, the Latin American edition of the world’s largest solar energy event.
Over three days, the audience will be able to learn about trends for the entire production chain of the photovoltaic solar sector, including solutions for electric mobility and energy storage in batteries.
Organized by NürnbergMesse Brasil and Oakstream, the fair and congress are expected to welcome at least 10,000 people.
The program includes debates with renowned experts in a high-level technical congress, discussing regulation, business models, battery technologies, and the role of solar energy in the energy transition.
More Than 100 Exhibitors at Fair Dedicated to Solar Energy and Batteries
The exhibition area of SNEC PV & ES LATAM will bring together around 100 exhibitors.
Confirmed are the main manufacturers of photovoltaic equipment, such as solar panels and inverters, as well as developers of centralized and distributed generation projects.
Companies focused on energy storage with batteries, electric mobility, smart grids, and infrastructure will also participate.
The expectation is that many of these players will take advantage of the event to launch products, announce partnerships, and present solutions specifically designed for the new battery market opening up in Brazil.
From SNEC in Shanghai to the Latin American Debut of the Fair
SNEC in Shanghai, China, has taken place since 2007 and has established itself as the largest solar energy event in the world.
The 2025 edition took place from June 11 to 13 and brought together around 3,500 exhibitors, attracting more than 500,000 visitors.
The holding of SNEC PV & ES LATAM in São Paulo marks the first version of the fair and congress outside China.
The fact that Brazil has been chosen for this Latin American debut reinforces the significance of the national solar energy market, which has been attracting the attention of global technology, financing, and services companies.
Numbers from 2025 Confirm the Strength of Solar Energy in Brazil
Data from Aneel shows that, throughout 2025, Brazil added 8.4 GW in small and medium-sized residential and commercial systems, in what is called distributed generation, and another 3 GW in large centralized generation plants. Together, these new solar energy installations represented investments of around R$ 40 billion.
The advancement also resulted in the creation of nearly 400,000 jobs and led the country to end 2025 with 65 GW of accumulated operational capacity in the photovoltaic source.
With these numbers, Brazil remains among the leading solar energy markets in the world, holding a prominent position alongside China, the United States, and India, and naturally positioning itself to host the first international edition of SNEC.
