The ambitious project includes duplications, new access lanes, and various infrastructure improvements in 8 Brazilian states. In addition, the company is committed to road safety and sustainability, aligning its actions with the global goals of the UN!

EcoRodovias, one of the leading highway concessionaires in Brazil, is preparing to make a significant leap in infrastructure with the expansion of 217.45 kilometers in its networks by the end of 2025. The construction plan, which includes duplications, new access lanes, and improvements that promise to facilitate traffic and enhance user safety, is in line with the company’s commitment to invest R$ 40 billion in its concessions by 2053.

With a presence in eight states, EcoRodovias aims not only to expand its highways but also to do so sustainably and with a focus on road safety, aiming to halve fatal accidents by 2030. “It’s much more than asphalt; it’s a matter of logistics, socioeconomic development, and safety for those who use our roads,” emphasizes Filippo Chiariello, Corporate Engineering Director of the company.

Essential Works for Safety and Economy

The construction plan of EcoRodovias is ambitious, with a direct impact on economically strategic regions. Among the highlights are the interventions on highways in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Goiás, and Tocantins. These works promise to benefit both the flow of industrial and agricultural production and the movement in important tourist hubs in Brazil.

On the RJ/MG axis, the highways managed by EcoRioMinas will receive improvements covering 112 km, including duplications and the construction of a new bridge over the Rio Doce in Governador Valadares. In Goiás and Tocantins, the concessions of Ecovias do Araguaia will have 60 km of duplications and 27 km of new access lanes. And it doesn’t stop there: the works include walkways, intersections, and return ramps to ensure more safety and flow.

Sustainability in Construction

EcoRodovias also stands out for its commitment to sustainability in its works. The company adopts construction practices that minimize environmental impact, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and choosing suppliers aligned with the ESG agenda. This commitment aligns with the UN’s global goal of promoting road safety and sustainability by 2030.

As Chiariello points out, “in all projects, sustainability is at the core. The company has clear goals for emission reduction, and we always seek alternatives with less environmental impact.” In other words, it is not just about expanding highways; it is about doing so responsibly.

Paving and Maintenance

Another focus of EcoRodovias is the maintenance of existing roads. In addition to expansions, the company is strongly involved in maintaining the pavements, ensuring that the managed sections provide safety and comfort. In the Northwest of São Paulo, where the company manages EcoNoroeste, the initial work was dedicated to restoring the driving conditions of important highway axes for the interior of the state.

This continuous maintenance extends to other units of the group, such as Ecoponte, Eco135, Eco101 and other concessions spread throughout Brazil. With this, EcoRodovias ensures that its highways are always in ideal conditions to meet the growing flow of vehicles and cargo transport.

A Future of Improvements

With a robust expansion plan and an unwavering commitment to safety, sustainability, and maintenance of highways, EcoRodovias continues to invest to improve Brazil’s infrastructure. The works promise not only to facilitate the daily lives of drivers but also to boost the development of the regions served by the highways under its management.

For those living or traveling in these areas, the improvements will be noticeable in the short and long term, with more safety, comfort, and speed in travel. The interventions will also create jobs and promote local growth, proving that highways are much more than simple asphalt connections – they are drivers of the country’s economic and social progress.

So, if you hit the road in the coming years, you already know: changes are on the way. And for the better!
