37.3 Thousand Boe Of Oil And Gas Were Produced By Petrobras And 47.4 Thousand Were Not Operated By The State-Owned Company In Bahia, Rio Grande Do Norte, Alagoas, Espírito Santo And Sergipe.

ANP published on the 6th of this month the Monthly Bulletin of Oil And Natural Gas Production, with the consolidated data of national production in May. Approximately 2.879 MMbbl/d (million barrels per day) of oil and 132 MMm3/d (million cubic meters per day) of natural gas were produced, totaling 3.707 MMboe/d (million barrels of oil equivalent per day).

According to the Agency, in May 2022, 272 granted areas, five onerous concession areas, and eight sharing areas operated by 41 companies were responsible for national production. Of these, 62 are offshore and 223 onshore, with 12 relating to contracts for areas containing marginal accumulations. Production took place in 6,095 wells, including 447 offshore and 5,648 onshore.

The average API gravity of the oil extracted in Brazil was 28.3, with 2.2% of production considered light oil (>=31°API), 93.5% medium oil (>=22 API and <31 API), and 4.3% heavy oil (<22 API).

Mature onshore basins (long-term fields/tests from the basins of Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe, and Alagoas) produced 84.698 Mboe/d, including 61.905 Mbbl/d of oil and 3.624 MMm³/d of natural gas.

Of this total, 37.3 thousand boe/d were produced by Petrobras and 47.4 thousand boe/d were produced by concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which: 19,519 in Bahia, 18,731 boe/d in Rio Grande do Norte, 6,968 boe/d in Alagoas, 1,843 boe/d in Espírito Santo, and 318 boe/d in Sergipe.

Information can also be accessed interactively at the Dynamic Panels of Oil And Natural Gas Production.

Pre-Salt

Production in the Pre-Salt in May recorded a volume of 2.835 MMboe/d (million barrels of oil equivalent per day), including 2.239 MMbbl/d of oil and 94.7 MMm3/d of natural gas, which accounted for 76.5% of national production. The production originated from 128 wells.

Utilization Of Natural Gas

In May, the utilization of natural gas was 96.5%. 46.3 MMm³/day were made available to the market, and the gas flaring for the month was 4.5 MMm³/day.

Origin Of Production

In April, offshore fields produced 97.4% of the oil and 86.7% of the natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras were responsible for 94.2% of the oil and natural gas produced in Brazil.

Fields And Installations

In May, the Tupi field in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, registering 776 MMbbl/d of oil and 36.6 MMm³/d of natural gas.

The FPSO Carioca platform, producing in the fields of Sépia and Sépia Leste through four interconnected wells, produced 165,478 bbl/d and was the installation with the highest oil production.

The Polo Arara installation, producing in the fields of Arara Azul, Araracanga, Carapanaúba, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu, and Leste do Urucu through 33 interconnected wells, produced 7.252 MMm³/d and was the installation with the highest natural gas production.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the highest number of onshore producing wells: 951.

Tupi, in the Santos Basin, was the offshore field with the highest number of producing wells: 59

Fields of Marginal Accumulations

These fields produced 539.6 boe/d, including 187.2 bbl/d of oil and 56 Mm³/d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer with 212.9 boe/d.
