Agronorte Announces Investment in Building New Feed Factory in Alvorada, After Change of Plans, and Expands Production in Tocantinópolis.
Agronorte, one of the largest agribusiness companies in Northern Brazil, announced a change in its expansion plans. The feed factory, which was to be built in Gurupi, Tocantins, will now be erected in Alvorada, in the same region. This change occurred due to a decision by the Gurupi city hall, which reduced the area of land that was to be donated to the company. With the change, Agronorte plans to invest R$ 15 million to expand its existing unit in Tocantinópolis, which already operates in the state. This decision reflects Agronorte’s commitment to ensuring its capacity to meet the growing demand for feed.
City Hall Decision and New Location for Construction
The construction of the factory in Gurupi, initially budgeted at R$ 70 million, was announced in May, along with investments of R$ 55 million in two storage units.
However, the reduction in available land led Agronorte to seek a new location for the construction. Vinícius Carvalho, the company’s director, explained that the minimum requirement was 60,000 square meters, but the city hall offered only 40,000.

Carvalho emphasized that Agronorte’s current operations are no longer sufficient to meet orders, making the expansion of production in Tocantinópolis a priority.

Carvalho also emphasized that the Northern region of Brazil has few companies dedicated to feed production, despite the growth of livestock activity.
