Free Republic of Verdis Emerges on the Banks of the Danube River, Gathers 400 Official Citizens and Sparks Global Interest Even Without Anyone Stepping on Its Physical Territory

Imagine waking up to find that a new country has been created in Europe, with its own government, ministers, ambassadors, a security technology passport, and hundreds of citizens. This is exactly what happened when the British Daniel Jackson, only 21 years old, proclaimed the foundation of the Free Republic of Verdis, a micronation located on the banks of the Danube River, in an area historically disputed between Serbia and Croatia.

The information was reported by the newspaper “Extra”, according to a piece by Letícia Lima, which details how the young man transformed a disputed territory into a political and digital project with international reach.

Although it seems like a fictional plot, the country already has an administrative structure and even a formal citizenship process.

How the Free Republic of Verdis Was Founded and How Much the Project Cost

To make the creation of the new nation viable, Daniel Jackson managed to raise one hundred eighty thousand pounds, an amount that corresponds to nearly one million three hundred thousand reais. With this amount, the young man structured the government and began to officially organize the micronation.

Since his election in 2019, Jackson has appointed various ministers and ambassadors, establishing a complete governmental structure. In addition, the country currently has four hundred official citizens, all holders of their own passport.

The document even features modern security technologies, such as visible marks under ultraviolet light, demonstrating the level of organization and formality of the project.

However, there is a curious detail: despite the complex administrative structure, no citizen has physically stepped on the territory to date. Consequently, all activities of the Free Republic of Verdis take place in the digital environment.

Strict Citizenship and Thousands of Interested Applicants

Although the territory has not yet been physically occupied, the interest in the project is surprising. More than two thousand eight hundred people have already begun the process to obtain the new nationality.

However, the government has established very strict rules. Candidates must present a good personal history and cannot have any criminal record. In addition, the micronation actively seeks individuals with technical skills, especially professionals in the fields of medicine and infrastructure.

Therefore, despite its unusual nature, the project does not function as a mere digital game. On the contrary, there are formal criteria and strategic planning for the formation of a structured society.

Inspiration from Liberland and Characteristics of the Micronation

The Free Republic of Verdis is also known as Pocket Three and has a blue and white flag. In territorial terms, its size exceeds that of the Vatican and is equivalent to approximately seventy-five soccer fields.

Moreover, the inspiration for creating the new country came directly from the Free Republic of Liberland, founded in 2015 by Czech politician Vít Jedlička, also in a disputed area of the region.

According to Daniel Jackson, managing an initiative of this scale requires a certain degree of boldness. “It takes madness to manage these lands,” he stated. Nonetheless, he believes that the world would be duller without innovative ideas like this.

Currently, Jackson continues as the ruler of the Free Republic of Verdis, consolidating one of the most talked-about micronations in recent Europe.

And you, would you have the courage to apply for citizenship in a country that officially exists but has not been physically occupied yet?
