The 2024 edition of the International Foreign Trade Fair of Central Brazil (Ficomex), held in Goiânia, Goiás, had a special focus on Canada. Canadian representatives expressed interest in expanding markets in partnership with Goiás. This new investment in Brazil promises to generate thousands of jobs, boosting the local economy and strengthening trade ties between the two countries.
Main Investment Areas of Canada in Goiás
During the various talks at the event, three sectors received special focus: health, pharmaceutical industry, and artificial intelligence. Among those present discussing the country’s commercial potential was Frederico Lyra Neto, Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Innovation. He highlighted the importance of developing technology-based products and services, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, which has been experiencing growth in the state of Goiás.
According to the professional, Goiás is experiencing a moment of ascension, with areas of economic growth associated with innovation, such as Agritechs and the bioeconomy, which generate various jobs. There is still much to offer in the fields of health, construction, fashion, and, of course, in artificial intelligence.

At the Ficomex in August, they will be at the Convention Center in Goiânia, and it will be possible to advance further in investment negotiations, presenting entrepreneurs from both locations and enabling them to conduct business.
Presentation Discussed Various Future Investments Focused on Goiás
The presentation on Brazil-Canada trade relations was given by businessman Arminio Calonga Júnior, from the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC), which has been operating since 2008 in the role of business development through missions, fairs, events, and studies aimed at promoting relations between the countries.
During the event, points were clarified such as Brazil x Canada trade relations, with a focus on the State of Goiás, potential sectors for both those wanting to export and import, internationalization in Canada beyond exports, research, development, and innovation: how a company can benefit from the Canadian ecosystem, hubs of access to Canada.
The event also featured the presence of the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, José Frederico Lyra Netto. He has a master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard, with executive training in Integrity and Values in Government from Oxford.
He is the Coordinator of the Goiás Pact for Innovation, which brings together more than 70 entities, and has also worked for two years at Falconi, the largest Brazilian consulting firm in business and people management, marked by the use of cutting-edge technology and data intelligence in generating results.
Discover Ficomex 2024
The 2024 edition of the International Foreign Trade Fair of Central Brazil (Ficomex), considered the largest business internationalization fair in the country, will take place from August 27 to 29, at the Convention Center in Goiânia.
Over the three days of programming, the Fair plans to gather three axes, namely business, education, and public policies, in one location, with over 170 exhibitors from various countries and the seven states that make up the Central Brazil Consortium (Goiás, Federal District, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Maranhão, and Rondônia).
The program will also include lectures and workshops on thematic areas. The event is promoted by Acieg, through Comex-Acieg and Faciest, in co-realization with the Government of Goiás, and in partnership with business entities, the third sector, and public authorities.
