Toyota and Suzuki have formed a promising partnership to develop an affordable electric car, aiming to make electrification more accessible to the public. This collaboration is based on the strong partnership between the two companies and aims to launch the innovative popular electric car in 2025. The recently trademarked FT-3e concept seems to be a strong indication of what’s to come. This initiative could mark a breakthrough in the electric vehicle market, democratizing electrification and making it more accessible to a broader audience.

Toyota and Suzuki Project Could Revolutionize Electric Vehicles

In recent months, Toyota has made significant announcements regarding its electric vehicle strategy.

With ambitious plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles by 2026 and achieve an annual production of 1.5 million units, the Japanese automaker is determined to lead the electric car revolution.

Recently, rumors have emerged about a project in partnership with Suzuki.

The goal would be to develop an affordable electric car, making electrification more accessible to all.

This project could be a game-changer for both companies and the electric vehicle market in general.

To understand the logic behind this collaboration, it’s important to know that Toyota and Suzuki already have an established partnership for developing compact electric vehicles.

Last year, both companies announced plans to further solidify this partnership.

Together, they are also involved in a joint project to create a new electric vehicle platform focused on electric minivans, slated for launch in May 2023.

While Toyota is rapidly advancing in electrification, Suzuki currently has no electric vehicles in its product line.

However, the Japanese automaker unveiled its first electric vehicle in January 2023, a crossover concept named eVX.

Suzuki is widely recognized as a global leader in compact cars, with 1.31 million units sold in 2022, according to JATO Dynamics.

Thus, this partnership for the affordable electric car could be the perfect opportunity for Suzuki to make a strong entry into the electric vehicle market.

According to unconfirmed information from Best Car and a recent filing with the U.S. Patent Office, Toyota and Suzuki are working on developing a small affordable electric car.

This vehicle will be part of Toyota’s bZ lineup, known for its electric vehicles, and the partnership with Suzuki aims to make it accessible to the public, thus developing the affordable electric car.

Although Best Car’s report does not cite specific sources, it states that Toyota and Suzuki are committed to launching this innovative affordable electric car in 2025.

Speculation suggests that the vehicle will be similar in size to the Toyota Aygo X, currently available in Europe.

Among the 15 electric vehicle concepts revealed by Toyota at the end of 2021, one attracted attention: the “small electric crossover bZ,” which resembles the Aygo X.

There are strong indications that this concept could be a preview of the popular electric car developed in conjunction with Suzuki.

Additionally, Toyota recently registered the name “FT-3e” with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).

The prefix “FT,” which stands for “Future Toyota,” has been used in the past to identify conceptual vehicles.

This suggests that the FT-3e could be the name of a completely new affordable electric car concept.

The last letter, “e,” indicates that it will be fully electric, while the “3” may refer to its size, suggesting that it will be smaller than the Toyota bZ4X.

As more details emerge and the FT-3e concept becomes a reality, the automotive world is eager to see how this partnership will transform the industry with the affordable electric car.
