Hyundai Announced Last Monday (14) a New Promotional Campaign Offering Discounts of Up to R$ 12 Thousand on Models HB20 and HB20S with 1.0 Naturally Aspirated Engine in Response to the Launch of the Sustainable Car Program of the Federal Government, Aiming to Stimulate the Sale of More Efficient and Less Polluting National Vehicles.
The action by the South Korean automaker, called “Reduced IPI Discount,” is valid until August 6 and exclusively covers models produced in Brazil, with manual transmission and 1.0 naturally aspirated engine, anticipating the fiscal effects of the new government program.
The Sustainable Car Program, signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva last week, eliminates the IPI for vehicles that present low CO₂ emissions, a high percentage of recyclable material and total national production, focusing on compact vehicles.
Versions Covered by Hyundai with Applied Discounts:

The car stored for 38 years: when opening the barn door, what appears is breathtaking and looks like a scene from a movie!

In addition to the price reduction, all models still offer five years of warranty without mileage limit and free access to the connected car system Hyundai Bluelink for five years, which allows remote control, tracking in case of theft, and vehicle diagnosis.
Even in the entry-level versions, both the HB20 and HB20S stand out for including a robust safety package as standard, with 6 airbags, traction and stability control, ABS brakes, electric steering, hill assist, cruise control, and speed limiter.
Incentive for National Production
The new campaign aligns with the guidelines of the federal decree that establishes the Sustainable Car program. The government seeks to promote the renewal of the Brazilian fleet, encourage the national automotive industry, and reduce emissions, with the expectation of benefiting up to 60% of vehicles sold in the country by 2024.
The rules require that the vehicle have emissions lower than 83 g of CO₂/km, over 80% of recyclable materials, and undergo all manufacturing processes in Brazil, including welding, painting, assembly, and engine machining.
New Tax Structure
The IPI structure for vehicles has also been restructured. Starting in October, a new logic of bonuses and penalties will be applied. More efficient and safer models may have reductions of up to 2 percentage points, while pure combustion vehicles with low efficiency may see an increase in the tax rate.
Among the criteria analyzed for defining the new tax rate are: type of propulsion, energy efficiency, engine power, safety, and recyclability. The base will be 6.3% for passenger cars and 3.9% for light commercial vehicles, with adjustments based on the indicators.
Focus on Sustainability and Access
According to Vice President and Minister Geraldo Alckmin, the program aligns innovation and sustainability with inclusion, facilitating the population’s access to newer, safer, and more economical cars. The policy is in effect until December 2026 and precedes the Tax Reform.
Hyundai, with its factory located in Piracicaba (SP), was one of the first automakers to capitalize on the new program as a marketing strategy, strengthening the appeal of the brand’s more accessible models to consumers.
The information was disclosed by the specialized website “Guru dos Carros,” which detailed both Hyundai’s promotional campaign and the developments of the Sustainable Car decree published by the Federal Government.
What about you, do you intend to take advantage of the discounts to switch cars this year, or will you wait for other models to enter the program?
